More Vessel of Hatred Details Coming in Summer 2024 - Diablo 4

Blizzard has revealed the next Diablo Immortal update, Splintered Souls, and with it comes a new story, content, and the introduction of Familiars to the free-to-play title. Players can look forward to the next update soon, as it is set to release sometime in mid-December.

Diablo 4's next hotfix is due sometime this week, and it'll make changes to the community's most recent bugbears: Living Steel and Helltide chests. 

The issue of players not being able to loot Potent Blood has been resolved, however, Diablo 4 Global Community Development Director, Adam Fletcher, has stated that the team will need additional time to resolve the issue of players not being able to progress their Season Journeys. Global Community Development Director Adam Fletcher has announced an upcoming hotfix that will solve issues that prevented players from picking up Potent Blood from Blood Fountains and progressing the Season Journey! As of right now, players who try to loot s dropped by Blood Fountains in Blood Harvests will not be able to pick them up because their character will be too far away from the drop location — a pesky bug that is supposed to be fixed with the upcoming patch: Fletcher also commented on the ongoing issues around Burning Cinders drop rates decreasing over time in certain Helltide zones and instances.

Players familiar to the Diablo franchise, in particular Diablo 3, may have fond memories of mini-pets zipping around screen gathering your gold for you. After all, what's better than having a companion vacuum up all the gold you don't want to walk back and grab? Many players were understandably disappointed that their favorite pets wouldn't be coming with them into the Diablo 4 world — but, as Diablo General Manager Rod Fergusson says, «never say never.» In an interview with TRG, Fergusson said the team is a «never say never» team when it comes to additions, including the possibility of mini-pets. TRG Interview with Rod Fergusson During BlizzCon Fergusson had quite a bit to say on the philosophy of Diablo 4's development during TRG's interview, including realizing that the feel of Diablo 3, with flashy cosmetics and sometimes absurd pets, wouldn't add to the feel of despair and terror Diablo 4 was going for on release. Fergusson had this to say on the matter:

Since Season of Blood began, we have known its end date from several in-game reminders and tooltips. However, at BlizzCon, Blizzard shared a screenshot that appeared to be from an internal build, which showed a slightly different Season 2 end date. Best Builds for Malignant Rings Midwinter Blight Event Gameplay While in-game, the end date of Season of Blood has always been displayed as January 23, 2024, during BlizzCon, and in their latest Abattoir of Zir YouTube video, it appears that the developer's internal build shows a Season 2 end date of January 26, 2024. So, why are these two dates different, and why is this significant? This is purely speculative, but it is our hope that the January 23rd date is the true end date of Season 2 and that the January 26th date is the beginning of Season 3. If you attempted to play during the launch of Season 2, then you're well aware that the transition between Season 1 and Season 2 was very rocky, to say the least.

The search for the Diablo 4 cow level is much more than a cowspiracy (apologies) at this point. IGN spoke to the game's production developer Tiffany Wat, and associate game director Joe Piepiora at BlizzCon 2023 where hints were dropped, adding more fuel to the fire. It's not much to go on, but Wat may have hinted that players are heading in the right direction: «I will say, however, if people have picked up any items from their cow campaigns… cow slay-age campaign… they should hang on to them.»

Diablo 3 fans missing the presence of pets in Diablo 4 have been given a glimmer of hope, as Diablo’s general manager, Rod Fergusson, has hinted that there’s always a chance that they could be added to the latest game eventually. 

At today’s BlizzCon event, Blizzard revealed a trailer for the first expansion of Diablo IV. The new expansion is called Vessel of Hatred, and according to the trailer, it will follow a new story thread teased at the end of the main story campaign. It will also feature a new class and a new region to explore. It’s set to launch sometime in late 2024.

During BlizzCon 2023, Blizzard Entertainment finally revealed its first paid expansion for Diablo 4 – Vessel of Hatred, which ventures to Torjang. As rumored, Mephisto will be the focus this time, and players can expect a new class unlike anything seen in the series. While the expansion is a ways off, we won’t have to wait too long for more information.

As the Diablo 4 community continues its hunt for a secret level that may or may not actually exist, the game’s production director has acknowledged players’ efforts and has offered a piece of advice that has sparked further speculation.
