Modern Warfare 3 video reveals remastered MW2 multiplayer maps

Modern Warfare 3 is nearly here and with so much of the game’s pre-release hype being focused on Multiplayer upgrades, the hype is hitting fever-pitch levels. It’s no secret we’re in for a blast from the past with the return of Modern Warfare 2’s beloved maps.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III may be a month away as of writing, but Sledgehammer Games and Infinity Ward have released a trailer showing off the game’s multiplayer mode just in time for the multiplayer beta launch this Friday, October 6.

I'm tempted to leave it at the headline and direct you to the comments - it's after five, you know, I'm usually in the bath by now - but I'm supposed to be some kind of "professional writer", so I guess I'll waffle for a few paragraphs. Activision have put up a trailer for nu-Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3's multiplayer, ahead of a full live reveal at the Call of Duty: Next event on 5th October. I caught the news on a social feed somewhere, went hunting for the Youtube version and, much to my distress, managed to dig up the multiplayer premiere for the original Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, released in 2011 - almost 12 years ago.

Activision has released a first proper look at Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3’s multiplayer, leaning heavily on nostalgia for classic maps and mechanics.

2023's Call of Duty will be in the form of Modern Warfare III, acting as a direct sequel to last year's Modern Warfare II. With a brand new campaign, multiplayer experience, and more. Activision is hosting an Open Beta across PlayStation, Xbox, and PC (PlayStation owners get first access), starting this Friday, October 6. The beta will feature 5 of the 16 remastered launch maps from the 2009 Modern Warfare 2, with the full game including the entire collection upon release, on November 10.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III arrives in a bit over a month, and Activision has provided a first peek at the game’s multiplayer in action. As we’ve heard previously, the game will initially focus on offering remastered versions of all the maps from 2009’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (Afghan, Derail, Estate, Favela, Karachi, Highrise, Invasion, Quarry, Rundown, Rust, Scrapyard, Skid Row, Sub Base, Terminal, Underpass, and Wasteland) with new maps coming post-launch.

Call of Duty fans have been waiting for the next iteration to launch into the marketplace. We, of course, know that the next major installment will be Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III. While players can continue to go through the narrative and pick up the campaign after Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II events, others could be keener on competitive multiplayer matches. That is one of the big selling points for the franchise as players work through a series of matches with their friends online.

Ahead of the Call of Duty Next Showcase on October 5th, Activision has released a multiplayer trailer for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. It features everything you’d associate with the franchise, from explosions and executions to Eminem. On the bright side, ‘Till I Collapse is still a banger. Check out the trailer below.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is reusing Modern Warfare 2 (2009) maps for its multiplayer (albeit with a shiny new coat of paint), but it’s implementing some much-requested features. Map voting and the classic mini-map are just a few. In a new video, the developer discussed Aftermarket Parts, similar to Operator Mods from Call of Duty: Black Ops 4.
