Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III may be a month away as of writing, but Sledgehammer Games and Infinity Ward have released a trailer showing off the game’s multiplayer mode just in time for the multiplayer beta launch this Friday, October 6.
In the trailer, we are shown a plethora of footage from the revamped multiplayer mode, including a peek at the “16 iconic maps” from the original Modern Warfare 2 — yes, the one released in 2009 — modernized for a new audience more than a decade later. These maps include: Afghan, Derail, Estate, Favela, Karachi, Highrise, Invasion, Quarry, Rundown, Rust, Scrapyard, Skidrow, Sub Base, Terminal, Underpass, and Wasteland.
According to the official reveal of Modern Warfare III, all of these maps will be available at launch, though it’s unclear if that means they’ll all be available in the beta.
It should be noted that, while the multiplayer beta launches this Friday, that’s only for PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5 players who have the game pre-ordered. The open beta will begin on October 8, and has been confirmed to arrive on other platforms, but word has been scarce on the timing of that release. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III arrives on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, and PC on November 10, 2023.
Additionally, the Call of Duty: NEXT event, as well as the Call of Duty Endowment Bowl IV will both take place on Thursday, October 5 starting at 9:00 a.m. PST/11:00 a.m. EST. Those interested in tuning in can do so via the official Call of Duty Twitch or YouTube channels.
To celebrate the launch of the upcoming, Call of Duty partnered with director David Leitch and an ensemble of celebrities to create a live-action trailer for the game.
