Miyamoto confirms new Super Mario Movie from Illumination coming in 2026, but instead of a sequel, the film is "broadening Mario's world"

Ever since it was announced that the 3DS and Wii U's online services would be shut down in April, a dedicated group of Super Mario Maker fans set out on a mission to complete every level in the game that was yet to be beaten. That sounds simple, but levels in Super Mario Maker usually remain unbeaten because they're monstrously difficult, with only a handful of players capable of even getting close to completing them.
