A24 has unveiled afor Ti West’s trilogy-capping slasher set in 80s Los Angeles.
The trailer shows Mia Goth’s Maxine Minx embroiled in a series of brutal murders, something she’s no stranger to, having survived the massacre in X.
MaxXxine takes place in 1985 with Mia Goth reprising her role of Maxine Minx from X. It picks up six years after the farmstead massacre of X. Maxine is now residing in LA and still striving to become a star in the acting world. But her chances are hampered by the fact people keep dying around her.
MaxXxine also stars musician Halsey, horror stalwart Kevin Bacon, Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang’s Michelle Monaghan, and Lilly Collins (Okja). It also stars Elizabeth Debicki, Moses Sumney, Bobby Cannavale, and Giancarlo Esposito.
A new poster has also been revealed, which you can see below.
While this is supposed to end a trilogy that started with X and Pearl, Ti West has stated he has an idea for a fourth film, saying, “There is this one weird idea that I have that is kind of… if I explained it, it would make sense,” West said. “But we’ll see what happens. Let’s get this movie done first, see if people like it. Then we’ll go from there.”
The film does have a cloud over it after a background actor accused Mia Goth of kicking him in the head during filming.
MaXXXine will be released in theaters on July 5, 2024.
