Marvel’s Spider-Man is one of the big heavy hitters for the Sony PlayStation platforms. PlayStation 4 saw the release of the first installment from Insomniac Games. It was such a big hit that it didn’t take long before they released Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Then, fast forward a bit, and we saw the official Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 launch into the marketplace. That had quite a few fans eager to pick up a PlayStation 5 console alone to experience this game. Unfortunately, the famed development studio that brought these games out was recently hit with a ransomware attack.

A new Venom Unreal Engine 5 fan concept video has been released, showing what fans could expect from this rumored title.
Earlier this month, following a criminal ransomware attack, details about Insomniac's next game allegedly saw the light. Apparently, the team is working on a Venom game that will be similar in scope to 2020's Spider-Man: Miles Morales. According to the leak, the game's story will lead into Spider-Man 3 and is said to feature three playable characters. Interestingly enough, following the release of Spider-Man 2 back in October of this year, an Insomniac dev commented on the possibility of a Venom spin-off, saying that the team will listen to fans. "So, here's what we're doing", Insomniac's Senior Narrative Director Jon Paquette said when asked about a spin-off. "We're focused on 'Spider-Man 2,' and what we're gonna do is we're gonna wait to see how the fans react. We're gonna listen to the fans and we're gonna ask ourselves, 'Okay, what do the fans really want?"
So, how would a Venom spin-off look and play? While not official gameplay in any way, digital artist TeaserPlay has released a concept video within Unreal Engine 5. Of course, Insomniac uses its in-house engine, but we're pretty sure that fans will appreciate this fan imagining. TeaserPlay's video features Epic's Nanite and Lumen tech alongside other features from Unreal Engine 5. Check out the fan concept video below:
Marvel's Venom from Insomniac Games is said to be targeting a Fall 2025 release on PlayStation 5. We'll update you as soon as more information about Insomniac's future titles comes in. Meanwhile, here's what we wrote about Spider-Man 2 in our launch review some months ago:
One of the key aspects that Insomniac needed to deliver in the original Marvel's Spider-Man was the web-swinging mechanics, since it had remained unsurpassed in Spidey's games following Treyarch's work. While Insomniac handily delivered, the 2018 game was largely held back by the PlayStation 4's inability to keep up with fast traversal through the open world.
2020's Miles Morales PS5 version made some strides in this area, but it was still a cross-generation game that had to be designed to be playable on the PS4, too. Marvel's Spider-Man 2 has none of these concerns, having been made only for the PlayStation 5, and the result speaks for itself.
Web-swinging around NYC is much faster, especially when fully upgraded.
