One player, desperate to freely roam Marvel's Spider-Man 2's depiction of New York City as Venom once more, has found a relatively unconventional way of doing so. However, we wouldn't go so far as recommending it, requiring intentionally crashing your game during a specific story segment and nerves of steel. Vague Marvel's Spider-Man 2 SPOILERS to follow!
Redditor UnderTheHood788 outlined their method, which involves reaching a particular cutscene that has players switch to Peter. In Fidelity mode, as soon as the screen goes blank while switching, they unplugged their PS5. Fidelity mode was used as it takes longer for the game to render. Upon reloading the latest save, players get a mission without an objective called Don't Be Scared.
What you have to do next, says UnderTheHood788, is «go to an unidentified target mission/talon drone mission and wait a little bit, then it should change you to Venom. Simply reload, and it will put you at night as Venom, with crimes against hunters, the flame, thugs, and even symbiotes. You can even do bases.»

Khayl Adam is the second best video game journalist Australia has ever produced, and his ambitions of world domination have (thus far) been curbed by the twin siren songs of strategy games and CRPGs. He has always felt an affinity for the noble dachshund, the best kind of dog.
It's actually a huge bummer we don't get to freeplay as Venom. Like even if I could only do the hunter bases or even just the crimes it would be nice. Only get to pilot him during that one slice of the game :/
@zhoont This is why the devs said if the people want a Venom spinoff they will make it. It makes sense since Tony Todd only ever got to use 10% of his voice lines in the game.
@Nepp67
That mission was very much them testing the waters to see if the demand for a full fledged Venom game is there.
The Venom misson was fantastic but it did feel like one big tease. I get for story reasons it wouldn't make sense to free roam as Venom but at the same time does anyone actually give a damn if it makes sense or not? At least once the mission replay thing hits next month we can play that mission over and over to our hearts content.
As for the update next month i really hope we can change the time of day and weather with it as photo mode is really limited with just daytime plus all those suits that light up just don't have the same appeal in daytime.

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is one of the biggest games of the year, and we were big fans, even if it didn't stray enough from the established Insomniac formula for our taste. Still, it seems we weren't the only ones surprised to find that, despite being nominated in seven separate categories, Sony's latest PlayStation exclusive didn't bag a single statue at The Game Awards.
The fate of the Knights of the Old Republic Remake remains in flux, much like the Force itself, and conflicting reports from trusted sources have recently left us contemplating a turn to the dark side. Now, a Disney executive has thrown further fuel on the flames.
As if anyone needed another reason to play Baldur's Gate 3 again, the recently released Honour Mode provides as good an incentive as any, especially for masochists. Veterans of Tactition, formerly the most difficult in the game, are finding Honour Mode — where a story-focused run will last regular players around 50 hours — to be a different beast entirely.
God of War Ragnarok: Valhalla is an unfortunate amalgamation of Norse words. However, the incoming free DLC (out today, 12th December) looks like a delicious second helping for fans of Sony Santa Monica's most recent release. We learned that Valhalla would serve as an epilogue to Kratos's story, and now we have a trailer showing it in randomly generated action.
Insomniac Games, the PlayStation first-party studio behind the recent Marvel's Spider-Man 2 and the upcoming Marvel's Wolverine, has been hacked, with sensitive information currently held hostage in a brazen digital heist.
Embracer Group has made good on its promise, deciding the fate of UK-based TimeSplitters developer Free Radical Design after a consultation process that concluded on 11th December. Or at least we have to assume so, the embattled company hasn't made an announcement or anything; Free Radical's website is simply gone, with a message left behind that reads: «404 Company Not Found [sad smiley face]»
Marvel’s Blade was announced during The Game Awards earlier this week, a massive budget third-person action game set in a reimagined Paris. Development, however, is being handled by Microsoft studio Arkane Lyon – the team formerly behind titles like Dishonored and one-time PS5 console exclusive Deathloop.
Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is one of the biggest successes of the year, but it launched missing a few features present in Insomniac's two prior Spidey games. The biggest omission was New Game Plus, but Insomniac assured fans it would come in an update to the game before the end of the year. Unfortunately, the developer won't be able to hit that deadline, as it posted this update on social media yesterday.
The new update will come in early 2024.
Insomniac Games has confirmed that Marvel's Spider-Man 2's New Game Plus mode will arrive early next year.
Marvel's Spider-Man 2 developer Insomniac has reportedly been targeted by a hacking group that is threatening to leak details about Marvel's Wolverine.
