NetEase and Marvel have just announced a free-to-play Overwatch-like hero shooter called Marvel Rivals, featuring 6v6 matches and destructible environments.
The story behind the game is that Doctor Doom and his 2099 counterpart are forcing the multiverse to collide in what is known as the Timestream Entanglement, ushering in entirely new worlds. Heroes and villains from across several universes band together to stop both Dooms before they can achieve multiversal domination. That's why you see Magneto and Loki fighting on the same side as Spider-Man and Black Panther.
In the trailer, we see Doctor Strange opening a portal that other players can leap through to skip ahead across the map (a very Symmetra-like ability), Spider-Man webbing up enemies to stun them, Loki summoning duplicates and even becoming other characters (akin to Spy in Team Fortress 2), Rocket and Groot teaming up in one of the many synergy abilities, and more.
In the trailer, we see a whole host of different playable characters on display. They are as follows:
We also see Galactus, Storm, the Punisher, Scarlet Witch, Mantis, Star Lord, and Drax at the end.
Marvel Rivals was leaked earlier this week via a Twitter user called Kurakasis. It was then corroborated by TheStreamr who claimed that it's a new third-person shooter from NetEase with a "polygonal approach to the art style [...] similar to Valorant". They were on the money, but Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League and Marvel's Avengers leaker Miller Ross claims that the reveal was not made in "response to the leaks".
Marvel Rivals is launching a closed alpha on Steam and Epic Games Store in May. You can sign up now.

The original Gigantic blended MOBA and hero shooter ideas together at the height of the gold rush in both genres, but failed to carve off a large enough audience of its own and sadly shut down in 2018.
As was heavily rumoured, the new Marvel game is indeed a six-on-six, team-based, hero-based multiplayer shooter. The first has been revealed, giving us a look at the superhero-filled shooter from NetEase Games.
The “hero shooter” is a popular competitive multiplayer game subgenre where players control characters with powerful preset abilities rather than a customizable loadout. Although “hero” is right there in the subgenre name, and Overwatch proved how well superheroes could work with the concept, we haven’t gotten a true attempt at this style of game from Marvel or DC.
