If you like Life is Strange and have an Android phone, you should head on over to Google Play right now and grab The Wreck. It’s a very similar experience, but played out in first person.
You play as Junon, who is having what can only be described as a midlife crisis. She’s unhappy with her career, has difficulties in her personal life, and is “emotionally numb”.
The story picks up as she’s called to the ER where her estranged mother is in a critical condition. This triggers some Life is Strange-style time manipulation.
You can explore Junon’s past to learn more about her, unlocking new dialogue options in the present. This can help change the story and affect your relationships with other characters.
It’s not just dialogue options though. You can actually completely alter the present by making key decisions in the past as you play through various different moments in Junon’s life.
Junon is a screenwriter by trade, and words play a big role in the experience. In the screenshots I’ve seen so far, words plaster the screen, adding texture to the goings on around you.
If you’d like to check out The Wreck, head on over to Google Play and grab it. You can download it for free to test it out, with a single purchase of £7.99 / $7.99 to unlock the full game.
If you like the look of The Wreck, and want more experiences like it, start with Life is Strange itself. You can grab it on Google Play for free with IAPs to unlock new chapters.
Or, you can check out our best new Android games this week feature. We update this every week with a list of the best new games you can play, so it’s definitely worth returning for.

If you ever wished that Into the Breach was less giant robots and more Fire Emblem, I’ve got a treat for you. Tyrant’s Blessing provides exactly that, and it’s out right now on Android.
Half-Life and Doom. I struggle to think of two games that have influenced me more. Between the iconic, flickering corridors of Valve’s Black Mesa and the run-and-gun fury of id Software’s defining FPS, my own taste in videogames is irredeemably shaped by these giants of PC history. Without Half-Life, there would be no Counter-Strike 2, no Portal, no Left 4 Dead – maybe even no Steam. Take Doom out of the equation, and the shooter as we know it might never have existed. Now, Gordon Freeman and Doomguy are finally united, thanks to an imaginative new Doom mod that incorporates the instantly recognizable sounds and effects from Valve’s 1998 classic. It’s not exactly Half-Life 3, but it’s a heck of a substitute.
Cyberpunk 2077, especially since the launch of Phantom Liberty, has one of the most vibrant and vivid visual styles in gaming. You take all that – the neon lights, the chunky guns, the endless miles of wires and cables – and strap it to the close-quarters, tactics-driven strategy of Firaxis’ iconic XCOM 2, and then add a dash of Payday 3, and its focus on robberies and heists, and this is the result. If you want a beautiful new Steam strategy sim, centered on stealth and cerebral planning, this is for you.
