Larian Is "Not Done" With Baldur's Gate 3, Teases New Ending Cinematics

Larian CEO Swen Vincke confirms that more updates for Baldur's Gate 3 are on the way. This comes after Larian admitted that it won't work on any expansions for the game, nor its sequel, leading some fans to fear that support was being pulled altogether.
However, Vincke has now reassured fans that this isn't the case, and the team still plans to roll out mod support for Baldur's Gate 3. He also confirms that more ending cinematics will be added in a future patch, further expanding the epilogue that's already seen huge updates since launch.
As reassuring as this is to those who were fearful that Larian was ditching Baldur's Gate 3 without adding these features, there is a caveat at the end: "Just not new content." So, don't expect new patches to add anything as significant as Patch 5, which rolled out an entirely new epilogue in the form of a reunion party, set six months after the final boss.
At the very least, it means that features Larian had previously promised are still on the table. These include mod support for PC and console, cross-platform multiplayer, and a photo mode, although the latter hasn't been brought up in some time, so we'll have to see if it's still in the works.
As for the new ending cinematics, it's not clear exactly how these will fit in. Larian has already overhauled the final conversation we have with our love interest in the game, adding some animations and a brief cinematic. The studio has also previously added cinematics to certain endings for Karlach and Lae'zel, so it's possible that more companions will be fleshed out like this. For example, we might see Wyll become Grand Duke or Shadowheart settling into a new home. We could even see our characters marry their love interests - if they're the marrying type, that is.
Whatever the case, we can expect to see them soon, as Larian is already looking beyond Baldur's Gate 3. Vincke previously confirmed that he's already worked out the first act of Larian's next game, which we now know isn't Baldur's Gate 4. Some are speculating that it's returning to its own Divinity IP, but we'll have to wait and see.
