2024 is a big year for Sonic. Actually, it's a big year for Sonic's friends, and it's been a long time coming. While Sonic's name might be the one up in lights for Sonic 3 and the Generations remaster, it's Knuckles and Shadow who are the supporting characters hogging most of the spotlight. Knuckles in particular right now as his spinoff show comes to Paramount next month, hence the world's most famous echidna finally getting a new Funko Pop!
There are a couple of caveats. The first is that the Pop! is a GameStop exclusive. The second could be a good thing or a bad thing depending on how you feel about Rouge. Rouge joins Knuckles to make the new additions to the Sonic Funko collection a two-pack. The figures aren't available to buy separately so you either get both of them or neither of them, and pre-orders for the set are available now through the link in the box below.
Being turned into a Funko Pop! isn't new for Knuckles, but this is the first time in a while the echidna has received a new figure. Somewhat surprising considering the wave of new Sonic Pops released at the end of 2023. Even more surprising is this being Rouge's Funko Pop! debut. This will be the bat's very first figure, and while most Sonic fans will want both so won't be phased by the two-pack caveat, it's a shame she still doesn't have a figure that can be bought individually.
Knuckles and Rouge have been paired together for a Funko Pop! two-pack. A GameStop exclusive that puts Knuckles in an action pose and marks Rouge's Funko Pop! debut.
Knuckles and Rouge being paired up in this way continues to fuel rumors that the latter might be introduced to Sonic's live-action universe during the upcoming Knuckles show. Rouge is also included in the Knuckles mech Lego set released on New Year's Day, getting her own smaller bat mech to fly around Knuckles as he protects the Master Emerald.
Even though Rouge is only now making her Funko debut, Sonic's Lego Minifigure collection is an even more exclusive club that she's already a part of. Sonic, Tails, Amy, and Shadow are the only other main characters to have been given that honor so far. We'll know for sure if Rouge is going to be the next character introduced to live action Sonic when the show starts streaming exclusively on Paramount Plus on April 26, 2024.
