In Dragon's Dogma 2, the bosses are so big that you have to climb them

Dragon's Dogma 2 sticks with the Dark Arisen template to a pleasant but almost surprising degree. Sequels often walk a fine balancing act as significant departures can alienate existing fans, whereas repeating the established gameplay often feels too safe. Capcom's anticipated sequel easily falls into the latter category but when the original action RPG still feels refreshingly original, we'd argue that's not a bad thing. Following a recent preview, we're excited to see more.

If you've been dying to see more of Dragon's Dogma 2 after Capcom's official gameplay presentation, you're in luck — a lot of luck. There's now uncut gameplay footage coming out of Tokyo Game Show, with Japanese publications V Jump and IGN Japan each posting ten-minute captures of the action RPG running on PS5.

Director Hideaki Itsuno mentions Rockstar's title as one source of inspiration for the action-RPG sequel.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 is a game that fans of its predecessor have been waiting for for a long time, and now that the open world action RPG is finally beginning to take tangible shape, excitement surrounding it is continuing to grow. Capcom recently brought the title to Tokyo Game Show, showing off substantial amounts of gameplay that’s looked quite promising, and something that’s caught the eye of many is how closesly the sequel seems to be sticking to the original game.

Square Enix’s Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth has received new gameplay and details thanks to various hands-on impressions over the past few days. However, the development team hosted a stage event at Tokyo Game Show 2023 to show off even more, from The Grasslands and its mini-games to more combat. Strategy RPG Goblin Slayer Another Adventurer: Nightmare Feast will launch for Switch and PC via Steam on February 29, 2024 with English and Japanese language options, publisher Bushiroad Games and developers Apollosoft and Mebius announced at a Tokyo Game Show 2023 stage event. Japanese pre-orders will open on October 12.

Capcom has shared more information on Dragon’s Dogma 2 at the Tokyo Game Show, with attendees and publications going hands-on with the demo. The environments have looked fairly big so far, which makes sense, given the world is four times larger than the first game. Speaking to VGC, director Hideaki Itsuno also confirmed that exploration is seamless with no loading screens.

Vearn, the Dark King will appear as a boss in the deepest part of the Temple of Recollection in Infinity Strash: Dragon Quest The Adventure of Dai, publisher Square Enix and developers Game Studio and KAI GRAPHICS announced during the game’s Tokyo Game Show 2023 stage event.

At first glance Lysfanga: The Time Shift Warrior appears to be a stylish but somewhat straightforward isometric hack ‘n’ slash in the vein of Hades, but after having some hands-on time with it at Tokyo Game Show it’s clear that there’s considerably more to it.
