As a live service third-person looter shooter, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League has gone down a very different direction from the Batman: Arkham games that put developer Rocksteady Studios on the map, and though that significant deviation is something that fans of the studio’s past work have been pretty vocally displeased about, Rocksteady says that in terms of story, Suicide Squad still very much abides by the studio’s philosophy.

Arkham series developer Rocksteady has claimed that the upcoming Suicide Squad is “easily our biggest game” in terms of narrative.

The Batman: Arkham Trilogy was somewhat groundbreaking for being - shock - actually great licensed games in a climate full of pretty subpar ones. Rocksteady Games is now pivoting to an anti-hero party in the upcoming Suicide Squad Kills The Justice League, which has garnered some raised eyebrows for its live service elements, but the developer claims that the team-up is its biggest story-focused adventure yet. 

will follow Amanda Waller's Task Force X, a team comprised of some of the DC Universe's rogues as they battle DC's primary superhero team, the Justice League. The title takes place in the same universe as Rocksteady Games' games, but unlike those titles, is a third-person shooter that can be played solo with AI teammates, or with up to four players in online co-op. With the game's focus on online co-op, some are likely wondering if players will be restricted to playing with those on their chosen gaming platform, or if will have crossplay functionality.

It's been a long time coming, but the big day is finally here: Daggerfall Unity, the best version of Bethesda's nearly 30-year-old open-world RPG, has now hit version 1.0 and is «considered complete.»

Michael De Santa is one of the most fully fleshed out characters in the Grand Theft Auto franchise. A former crook who feels disconnected from his spoiled, wealthy family, Michael struggles with a desire to relive his ‘glory days’ and finding peace and solace with his estranged loved ones. As relatable as Michael’s story can be at some points, it’s hard to see him as a good person, though one can believe he is trying to become one.

Guild Wars publisher NCSoft's long-rumoured Horizon: Zero Dawn spin-off is a full-blown MMORPG codenamed Project Skyline, will run on Unreal Engine 5, and is coming to PC and mobile with a PS5 release still TBC, according to a brace of job listings and CVs fished from the post-apocalyptic robo-wilds of yonder internet. Also according to the said listings, it won’t be out for a while.

2023 was heralded as the biggest year in the history of video games to ever video game a game of videos, and as that incoherent word salad would suggest, it was a busy year. That said, 2024 is shaping up to have quite a few big releases to keep you from finishing that massive backlog you piled up last year because you were so busy tormenting Koroks and trying to get to second base with Shadowheart.

Video games run the gamut from silly toys for babies to life-altering works of art, all of which make up an industry that rakes in billions of dollars a year. Of course, the endlessly consumptive nature of the business can’t help but produce controversy, and 2023 had its share of milestones.

With the year almost behind us, it's hard not to look back at 2023 with conflicted feelings. It was a fantastic year for gamers at home with great tentpole releases from PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo, and some excellent indies, too. For years to come, we will all likely argue that 2023 was one of the best – if not the best – year for games. But it was also a terrible year for the people who make games, with more than 10,000 developers laid off, studios closed, and more.
