I turned my Steam Deck into the ultimate cross-platform gaming machine

There are few individuals as mysterious as Helldivers 2's galactic game master Joel – the man pulling all the strings of the war, constantly working to evolve the third-person shooter's evolving narrative, as well as issuing Major Orders to us all. 

The Dragon's Dogma 2 community has been left shaken by the existence of Dragonsplague – a deadly illness introduced in the sequel that can result in entire towns being killed. Left unchecked, the contagious disease –  which can be spread game-to-game by hiring infected Pawns – has the potential to result in numerous NPCs, including important quest-givers, being wiped out overnight.

Have you ever wanted to play some of the video games you grew up with? There’s nothing like taking a trip down memory lane with our 8-bit heroes of yesteryear, but not everyone has a classic console hanging around to re-experience these titles with. Fortunately, we live in a world of console emulators, which means you won’t have to spend precious weekend time trying to find a PS2 or SNES at that indie game store that’s 25 miles away.

Nvidia did what we all knew was coming — it made an AI-driven game demo. In Convert Protocol, you play as a detective trying to track down a particular subject at a high-end hotel. The promise is sleuthing through conversations with non-playable characters (NPCs) to get what you need. Except in this demo, you use your microphone and voice to ask questions instead of choosing from a list of preset options.

I’ve been using a Steam Deck for more than a year, and in that time, I’ve discovered a plethora of cool tips and tricks that have improved my experience. Here are some pointers to get the most out of your Deck and SteamOS.

It’s been nearly six months since I originally wrote my Asus ROG Ally Z1 Extreme review, and the device has changed drastically in that time. It’s still a compelling device that easily beats the Steam Deck in raw performance, but a slew of strange updates has left the ROG Ally in a strange spot compared to the Steam Deck.

Valve has released a list showcasing the top games played on its handheld gaming PC, the Steam Deck. The list, which reveals what the 100 most-played games on the system were, features a timeframe of March 2023 to March 2024. The full list is available on Steam.

Valve just released a list of the top 100 games played on the Steam Deck over the last 12 months and few will likely be surprised that Baldur's Gate 3 tops the list. Valve's handheld device launched back in 2022, promising fans a chance to play some of their favorite Steam titles while on the go. Now, the developer is offering a glimpse of which games have attracted the most attention on the Steam Deck over the last year, and Larian Studios' hit RPG Baldur's Gate 3 came in at number one.

As if I wasn’t already looking forward to Black Myth: Wukong enough, Nvidia just announced that the game is getting the full RTX treatment when it launches on August 20. We see new games with ray tracing and Nvidia’s Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) all the time, but Black Myth: Wukong is joining a very small list of titles that currently leverage the full suite of features Nvidia has available.
