Spin Rhythm XD Pre-Orders Launch on Switch - Hardcore Gamer

Spin Rhythm XD hit the PC back in March and now it’s set for its console debut thanks to the Nintendo Switch. There have been a ton of rhythm games on the market over the past two decades, but none really did things quite like Spin Rhythm XD. Here, you have a song playing and want to match the beat with a rotating set of notes to work with. There are different color schemes to work with for the main gameplay area, with pink and blue, orange and white, a little bit of the Jokier’s purple and green and different-looking skins to put on the spinner.

Celebrate Everything Spooky with the Upcoming Splatoween Event in Splatoon 3 - Hardcore Gamer

Splatfests are still all the rage for the inklings and octolings hanging out looking to have a little fun, but this time around there’s some brand new theming to amp up the excitement for the latest and greatest they have to offer! All the squid and octo kids are going to celebrate in style this Splatoween and enjoy not only a fully decked out town, but a fun new Splatfest to fight and prove just who is going to take top billing this time around. The brand new theme is around familiar spooky faces one might see around Halloween, but instead of seeing them as scary foes to attack the question asked is which of the three would be the best friend! The three available choices include zombies who are well known for being a little bit bitey at times, skeletons that rattle their bones while loving to jump around and finally ghosts who might not always seem like they’re there but are always glad to catch you by surprise. For those who enjoy voting based on character the choices belong to Shiver, Frye and Big Man respectively. The best part of all is the team has absolutely gone all out to make this a fully decorated experience no matter what team you’re on!

Retro-Bit Announces Hall Effect Twin Stick Saturn-Style Controller - Hardcore Gamer

The Sega Saturn’s second controller design has become the stuff of legend over the course of the last 25 years. The original Saturn pad was a bit clunky, but wide, while the second offering was more streamlined – a bit like how the Sega Genesis had a chunkier pad to start, but later got a thinner design for the six-button pad. Each felt a bit different due to the shape of the pads and while the second Saturn pad was better-looking and in some ways more responsive, I always preferred the larger form factor of the first controller.

Massively Revamped Foundry Demo Briefly Returns with New Publisher - Hardcore Gamer

The road of game development can be a weird one, with periods of regular news being followed by long bouts of silence plus varying levels of access to early builds.  Open alphas, closed alphas, Early Access, and various forms of testing get the game into players’ hands while providing important feedback, but the gathered information doesn’t do much good if there’s no time to integrate it properly.  In the case of Foundry its alpha period went well enough the game was picked up by a publisher, leading to a long period of silence after the Steam demo got pulled last November while the entire game received a full overhaul.  Now it’s back with a huge number of changes, available for the duration of the Steam Next Fest before it disappears again.

Riding the Chill Rails of Station to Station Launch Trailer - Hardcore Gamer

The world needs stuff but stuff is over there and civilization is over here, and that’s why we have logistics.  One of the most efficient bits of transportation infrastructure is the basic all-purpose train, which despite the business’ history both recent and since its inception is romanticized to no end.  There’s just something that feels right about these massive, powerful machines carting goods across the countryside, connecting suppliers of raw materials with hubs of industry and eventually the towns and cities that need the final product.  It takes actual effort not to love watching trains go about their routes and there have been uncountable dozens of games letting people get their hands on every aspect of the industry, from being a conductor, to running it as a business, and even playing with a wooden train set.  Station to Station is the latest train game and it’s a chilled take on the genre, letting you plop down stations and tracks to connect the buildings on an idyllic but washed-out landscape, bringing life and color to the world with every new connection.

Entirely New Shiren the Wanderer Title Coming to Nintendo Switch Early Next Year - Hardcore Gamer

The Shiren series has long been a niche one even among the Mystery Dungeon titles. It’s Spike Chunsoft’s own entirely original take on Mystery Dungeon that isn’t based on existing properties such as Dragon Quest or Pokemon and has long since been popular in Japan but not quite as sought after anywhere else. The last entry we saw localized was a remake in the form of Shiren the Wanderer: The Tower of Fortune and the Dice of Fates which was originally a DS title before it made its way to modern systems. The newest title, Shiren the Wanderer: The Mystery Dungeon of Serpentcoil Island was originally announced as coming to Japan with no word on a localization. Fortunately fans no longer need to worry as we’ve finally gotten our confirmed English release for the title to make a splash onto Nintendo Switch next year. The new art style is no longer sprite based and instead entirely 3D models rather akin to the recent Pokemon Mystery Dungeon remake we had a few years back. This charming new take on Shiren seems absolutely packed full of life and is promising to bring back the classic gameplay and challenge that so many knew and loved it for.

Vexlands Uncovers a Release Window with Demo Launch - Hardcore Gamer

Most mysteries are solved by deduction and investigation.  An inquisitive mind and an eye for detail combined with the ability to create ideas and throw them out when they don’t work generally lead to a correct solution, whether that be something as convoluted as a murder or mundane like finding a misplaced item.  Uncovering the mysteries of an unfamiliar land usually need the same skills, except in the case of Vexlands where what’s really going to work is cold hard cash.  The hexagonal tiles of the Vexlands are completely blank with the only information available being how much it costs to reveal what’s underneath, and whether that be a new dungeon, crafting recipe, or a plain old bush won’t be revealed until the money is spent.

From Below Pocket Coming to GB, GBC, NES in October - Hardcore Gamer

The rise of Tetris over the past 35 years has left to many different interpretations of that formula over the decades. The ’90s saw a Game Boy Color remake of the Game Boy classic, while the PC market was flooded with a billion clones – but none really stood out. We’ve even seen some come out in more modern times, like Tetrominoes on the PS3 and Switch. We have seen a lot of homebrew GB and GBC games, but none that went for a Tetris vibe and with good reason – it’s a classic on both platforms and hard to find a way to improve upon, however, that’s been done here.
