Apple is working on its next big iOS 17 update which will see the light of day soon. The company released iOS 17.4 with a handful of major changes that affect the general public and developers on a system level. The company finally allows iPhone users in the EU to sideload apps and install third-party app stores. Apple is now working to release its next iOS 17.5 update for the iPhone, which currently rests in the beta phase.
Apple could release iOS 17.5 as soon as this week unless a release candidate build is released
iOS 17.5 will house numerous additions focusing on changes and improvements for features oriented towards users in the EU. Despite these changes, the update will also include a plethora of front-facing utilities. Today, Apple announced a new Pride Edition Braided Solo Loop Apple Watch band with a dedicated watch face and wallpaper.

However, the company did not mention the exact date or time, but we can speculate when the next update might hit your devices. Apple is expected to host its 'Let Loose' event tomorrow where it will see fit to announce the new OLED iPad Pro and M2 iPad Air models.
That said, Apple could announce iOS 17.5 and other updates at its 'Let Loose' event tomorrow. Moreover, the update will be accompanied by iPadOS 17.5. It was previously reported that the company is working on a dedicated iPadOS 17.5 update which will bring the necessary features for the new OLED iPad Pro. While it is possible that the update could be released over the air after the iPad Pro event, we have seen in the past that Apple releases release candidate builds of major updates ahead of their final release.
In this case, we might have to wait another week for iOS 17.5 to release. Apple typically releases software updates on a Tuesday and we can presume that the upcoming update will arrive on May 14 or before. However, these are mere speculations at this stage as the final word rests with Apple. Note that the company can release the update tomorrow as well, as the OLED iPad Pro models will be available for pre-orders later this week.

The Galaxy S24 family shipped with Samsung’s ‘Galaxy AI,’ which is the company’s first AI-powered feature set that elevates the smartphone experience. So far, this addition has proven to be successful, as Samsung recently regained the top spot by beating Apple and becoming the largest smartphone vendor in Q1 2024. We expect to see more of these features added to the Galaxy S25 range next year, but ‘Battery AI’ is something that the company is rumored to introduce before it officially announces its 2025 flagship family.

Nintendo has revealed that fans can expect an announcement about the upcoming Switch successor, or Switch 2 as it has come to be known, sometime before the end of the current fiscal year. Rumors about the next iteration of the Nintendo Switch have been swirling for the past couple of years, which is understandable considering that the company’s unique hybrid console originally launched in 2017. Even upon its release, the Switch was considered to be one generation behind the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, and many gamers have been waiting for Nintendo to release hardware that could compete graphically and technically with ninth-generation consoles.

4X-meets-real-time-strategy game Sins Of A Solar Empire 2 will finally launch on Steam this summer, Stardock and Ironclad Games have announced, a couple of years after going into technical early access on Epic Games Store. I loved the first Sins and so did Kieron Gillen (RPS in peace) whose 16-year-old review dwells appreciatively on the spectacle of cruisers and frigates bouncing to hyperspace on the very edge of a solar system. We don't seem to have written about the second one - time to change that, I guess. Here's the Steam release announcement trailer.

As of April 17, four beta versions of iOS 17.5 have been rolled out.
The Earth Defense Force franchise might not be the most pristine or mainstream gaming property around, but it’s picked up a sizeable and dedicated fanbase over the years, one that’s filled with players who’re all too happy to get fresh doses of its pulpy bug-shooting action once every few years. If you’re in that group, you’ll soon be getting another helping of the series’ offerings.
Collectors rejoice, completing a quest in The War Within now awards all appearance rewards, regardless of weapon or armor type! Earn plate cosmetics on your Monk or leather on your Priest, just from finishing the same quest. What's more, there's also a new dropdown menu that allows players to swap between classes in the appearance tab — helping players see what transmog they might/not have without changing characters! Note this is sorted by class rather than armor type, so exclusive cosmetics like the elusive Kor'kron Dark Shaman Armor won't show for Hunter.
