Arrowhead Game Studios CEO, Johan Pilestedt, confirms that the studio is looking into potentially adding a color change customization feature for the various armor sets available in Helldivers 2. It's been a series of high and lows for the development team at Arrowhead Game Studios, as Helldivers 2 became an absolutely massive hit with both critics and fans after the game's launch. However, the rapid growth resulted in major problems including crashes, server instability, and login issues which have plagued the overall experience for many.
However, even through all the problems, Helldivers 2 continued to grow and bypass new player concurrent milestones, pushing Arrowhead to continue to release new updates and smaller patches. While the studio isn't out of the woods yet, recent Helldivers 2 updates have alleviated many of the major problems, including adding an AFK removal feature as well as raising the server capacity cap to 800,000 players. As the technical issues become less pressing, Arrowhead is now looking forward to future content additions, including potentially adding a highly requested fan feature.
Arrowhead CEO Johan Pilestedt has continued to be very vocal on social media, both answering questions as well as giving fans a glimpse into what the studio is working on. Pilestedt continued to give Helldivers 2 fans a heads-up with upcoming patches, though he's also taken the time to respond directly to players as well. One such fan asked if it was possible for the game to allow players a little more freedom when outfitting their player character, being able to change the colors on the armor, so they could at least mix and match.
In response to the question, Pilestedt simply indicated that adding a color customization option to armor and capes was being discussed internally. There's no indication that this will definitely make the cut, but the studio is at least aware of how highly requested a feature like this is, as other comments indicated that some users would even pay money to see this implemented. Helldivers 2 features plenty of gear to unlock through the free and paid Warbonds Acquisition Center, spending in-game currency to unlock items, though as of right now, they can't be altered from their default appearance.
In addition to potential features, Pilestedt has also commented on some of the remaining issues facing the game. One such issue that has continued to frustrate fans is the fact that the Daily Challenges system in Helldivers 2 has seemingly broken. Intended as a way for players to earn Warbonds for completing a certain task in the game, Pilestedt confirmed that the feature essentially broke over the weekend following an update and that the team is looking into it. There's no timeframe
