Sledgehammer Games has teased the return of Capture the Flag to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. Its return would be a significant event for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, as a 6v6 format of the classic mode has not been seen since Black Ops Cold War.
Last year, Modern Warfare 2 added Big Capture the Flag, which was a large-scale variant of the mode played on 20v20 Battle Maps. A 6v6 version was never added, although the mode was previously seen inCold War, WWII, Infinite Warfare, Black Ops 3, and more. Capture the Flag has proven to be a popular concept not just in Call of Duty, but in many games, FPS and otherwise. Most users are probably already familiar with its simple but enjoyable format, which may be returning soon.
Reddit user Eng11sh posted a thread to the Modern Warfare 3 subreddit that asked users what classic features they wished would return to the game. Many users, including Eng11sh, expressed their desire for Capture the Flag to make a reappearance. In response to the thread, Sledgehammer Games' official Reddit account posted an eyes emoji, suggesting that the studio is considering fans' requests. The thread's top comment and the original poster both asked for the return of Capture the Flag, so it certainly seems possible that Sledgehammer is considering the mode's reintroduction.
Seeing that Modern Warfare 3 adds new playlists and modes on a regular basis, it's a realistic hope for Capture the Flag to return at some point. However, it should be emphasized that Sledgehammer has yet to make an official announcement on the matter. Other fan requests made in the Reddit thread included modes like Demolition, One in the Chamber, and Gunfight Tournament, as well as features like Pro Perks, Specialist Kill Streaks, and the original Prestige format.
Although fans will have to wait for the potential return of Capture the Flag, Modern Warfare 3's Season 2 Reloaded update earlier in March introduced the Bounty mode. The TDM-inspired concept adds a twist to the classic mode by periodically marking the top-performing player on each team for all enemies to see. If a team's top player is eliminated, the other team receives extra points.
In addition, Modern Warfare 3 just released its newest update on March 13, which rebalanced some guns and made minor changes. The update launched alongsideCall of Duty's Warhammer 40K event that runs from March 13 to March 27. Users can now play the event's limited-time mode, Juggermosh, which allows fans to play as Warhammer 40K-themed Juggernauts from a third-person perspective.
