Helldivers 2 Patch Lowers Spawn Rate For The Worst Bugs

Helldivers 2's latest patch reduces the spawn rate for two of the most irritating bugs in the game: Chargers and Bile Titans. The update means that we should encounter fewer of them in higher difficulties after players complained there were too many in a single map.
However, the devs are quick to add that this doesn't mean they've reduced the difficulty. As explained in the patch notes, we'll now encounter other bug types more often - we just shouldn't be spammed by those giant freaks who blast poison everywhere.
"The amount of heavily armored targets that spawn on higher difficulties, especially for Terminids, have been a big discussion point online and internally," reads a post about the update on Steam. "The intent is for groups to have to bring some form of anti-tank capability but not to the degree previously needed.
"To that end we have reduced the spawn rate of Chargers and Bile Titans on difficulties 7 and up. In addition we have reduced the risk of spawn spikes of Chargers and Bile Titans."
Please note that we have changed the distribution of enemy types, not reduced difficulty. Expect other enemy types to appear in greater numbers instead.
In addition, the update will lower the health of the Chargers' heads, so if we're using a powerful weapon, we might even be able to one-shot it. This is to stop players from being forced to play the "leg meta", which saw Helldivers try to take out each of its huge individually, a strategy which is much more time-consuming.
Unfortunately, there's no mention of any buffs for the mechs. Ever since they joined the game last week, players have been complaining that they're much weaker than they were expecting. But it seems that the devs aren't too concerned with their effect on the meta just yet, because the only changes being made to them are some bug fixes, nothing to do with their usefulness in battle.
That said, we know that the devs are keeping an eye on how we play and will release balances to reflect that. So, if no one ends up finding a way to use mechs effectively, they might get tweaked in a future update. Some do say they're useful as glass canons though, so just don't call one down and expect to take on a bug swarm all on your own.
