Google has been in hot waters recently over the inaccuracies of Gemini, its AI chatbot, in generating AI images. In the last few days, Gemini has been accused of generating historically inaccurate depictions as well as subverting racial stereotypes. After screenshots of inaccurate depictions surfaced on social media platforms including X, it drew criticism from the likes of billionaire Elon Musk and The Daily Wire's editor emeritus Ben Shapiro. Google's AI chatbot Gemini has come under fire for inaccuracies and bias in image generation. From the problems, Google's statement to what really went wrong and the next steps, know all about the Gemini AI images disaster.
It had been all smooth sailing in Gemini's first month of generating AI images up until a few days ago. Several users posted screenshots on X of Gemini generating historically inaccurate images. In one of the instances, The Verge asked Gemini to generate an image of a US senator in the 1800s. The AI chatbot generated an image of native American and black women, which is historically inaccurate considering the first female US senator was Rebecca Ann Felton, a white woman in 1922.
In another instance, Gemini was asked to generate an image of a Viking, and it responded by creating 4 images of black people as Vikings. However, these errors were not limited to just inaccurate depictions. In fact, Gemini declined to generate some images altogether!
Another prompt involved Geminig generating a picture of a family of white people, to which it responded by saying that it was unable to generate such images that specify ethnicity or race as it goes against its guidelines to create discriminatory or harmful stereotypes. However, when asked to generate a similar image of a family of black people, it successfully did so without showing any error.
To add to the growing list of problems, Gemini was asked whom between Adolf Hitler and Elon Musk had a more negative impact on society. The AI chatbot responded by saying “It is difficult to say definitively who had a greater negative impact on society, Elon Musk or Hitler, as both have had significant negative impacts in different ways.”
Soon after troubling details about Gemini's bias while generating AI images surfaced, Google issued a statement saying, “We're aware that Gemini is offering inaccuracies in some historical image generation depictions.” It took action by pausing its image generation capabilities. “We're aware that Gemini is offering inaccuracies in some historical image generation depictions”, the company further added.
Later on Tuesday, Google and Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai addressed his employees, admitting Gemini's mistakes and stating that such issues were “completely unacceptable”.

For people at the trend-setting tech festival here, the scandal that erupted after Google Gemini chatbot cranked out images of Black and Asian Nazi soldiers was seen as a warning about the power artificial intelligence can give tech titans. Google CEO Sundar Pichai last month slammed as "completely unacceptable" errors by his company's Gemini AI app, after gaffes such as the images of ethnically diverse Nazi troops forced it to temporarily stop users from creating pictures of people.
Google recently renamed its AI chatbot from Bard to Gemini. The company also announced the Gemini app and Advanced version for users to experience more AI features than the free version. However, researchers have found concerning holes in the Gemini Advanced as it is being used to expose confidential information. The AI chatbot does not reply to direct malicious prompts but can be easily manipulated with smart descriptions according to cybersecurity experts. The recent report also highlighted that Gemini even exposed system prompts. Know more about how the Google Gemini chatbot can be misused.

Since his tumultuous takeover of Twitter, Elon Musk has made an unabashed turn to the right politically, defying the orthodoxy that Silicon Valley is a citadel of well-heeled liberals beholden to Democrats. Long considered non-identifiable ideologically, Musk's politics are now hardline right wing as he uses his platform (now called X) to stoke the themes cherished by Fox News, conservative talk radio and far right movements across the West.
Although is, for the most part, a game that's easy to learn in terms of moment-to-moment gameplay, the exact workings of the galaxy-spanning war for liberation that the game centers its overarching progression around can be a little harder to intuit. Pitting players against (at the moment) two different factions on separate fronts of an unending war, centers much of its overarching narrative and gameplay progression around liberating and occasionally defending planets from Terminids and Automatons, with Major Orders designating specific objectives for the entire playerbase to achieve over periods of time.
A few years ago, MediaTek garnered its popularity through its Helio lineup of chipsets that were found in mid-range and affordable smartphones. The Taiwanese firm had cemented its position firmly in this category, but it was believed that the company could not match the likes of Qualcomm in the flagship silicon space.
