Ghost of Tsushima announced the inclusion of a new PlayStation overlay feature for its upcoming PC port. Fans have asked for a way to link their platforms ever since Sony confirmed Sucker Punch's critically acclaimed action-adventure title was gearing up for a PC release. Thankfully for these longtime players, the developers of Ghost of Tsushima have heard their voices.
Ghost of Tsushima was one of the biggest hits of 2020 and a top contender for several of the year's video game awards, with fans falling in love with the title's beautiful depiction of the titular island of Tsushima and its complex combat mechanics. More than a few of its most devoted players have likely logged in more than their fair share of hours into the game, which they spent discovering the many secrets, collectibles, and side quests scattered across Ghost of Tsushima's expansive open world. Now, with the implementation of a new feature, they can rest assured their achievements also won't disappear if they decide to purchase the game's upcoming PC port.
Sony revealed its highly anticipated port to desktops will implement the new PlayStation overlay, which will allow players to connect their PSN account to their Steam ID. Players on PC can access the overlay by either pressing the shift key and the F1 key simultaneously or by navigating to the appropriate in-game menu option.
The PlayStation overlay feature will allow users to access not only their PSN profile but also their settings and friend list. Notably, players can additionally import their trophies, meaning users who play on both a PlayStation console and the PC version can progress towards the Ghost of Tsushima's coveted Platinum trophy across platforms.
The PlayStation overlay feature is purely optional when accessing Ghost of Tsushima's single-player content, and will not affect the achievements list on Steam and the Epic Games Store. However, it's a different story for Ghost of Tsushima's Legends cooperative multiplayer mode. Players interested in taking their session online will be required to sign in with their PSN account, whereafter they can play together with both PC and PlayStation users.
Ghost of Tsushima is the latest of several formerly PlayStation-exclusive titles making its way to PC, with other console-only games such as The Last of Us Part 1 and Horizon Forbidden West recently released for desktops. A sizable chunk of the gaming community regarded the wave of ports as a positive change for the industry, with fans believing it allowed titles to reach a wider audience while fostering innovation. However, only time will tell if this trend of cross-platform ports will continue.
In Ghost of Tsushima, players will roam the vast countryside and expansive terrain
