If a rumor is to be believed, Sony's PlayStation Showcase event may reportedly take place as early as next week. Interestingly, this rumor about the PlayStation Showcase event comes from a deleted social media post shared by an unexpected source, popular podcaster DJ Akademiks.
As a matter of fact, a PlayStation Showcase isn't the only thing that people are looking forward to right now. The ongoing feud between musicians Kendrick Lamar and Drake, which has spawned several diss tracks recently, is another incident drawing engagement. While giving an update about the same, it seems that DJ Akademiks may have accidentally revealed an approximate window for this year's PlayStation Showcase rumored to take place in May.
In a recent Twitter post, leaker Radec shared a screenshot of a now-deleted Instagram post from DJ Akademiks that hints the next PlayStation Showcase event could take place next week. As per the post caption visible in the screenshot, artist Kendrick Lamar can't release another track, expected to be the next chapter in his feud with fellow rapper Drake, until Sony's PlayStation Showcase event wraps up in the coming week. This restriction is allegedly due to a «marketing deal» that the musician has in place with Sony.
While the rumor may not have come from a regular source of gaming leaks, the fact that the reported source, DJ Akademiks, is a notable name in the music industry gives this rumor considerable weight. If the rumor is true, it would mean that Sony will organize the event slightly earlier, in mid-May, compared to last year when PlayStation Showcase 2023 streamed near the end of the month on May 24.
With multiple highly anticipated games coming to PS5 in the near future, fans have been expecting this year's PlayStation Showcase to be filled with important announcements. Most prominently, there are rumors of the Silent Hill 2 remake finally getting a release date. In particular, this rumor seems very likely to be true as Silent Hill 2 has already received its ESRB rating, hinting that its launch could be close. Moreover, given that fans saw some gameplay from the latest game in the returning horror franchise back in January, there are chances that more clips of the remake could be shown during the next PlayStation Showcase event.
Apart from the SilentHill 2 remake, fans may expect to hear updates about other PS5 titles that are currently in development, such as Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater. The forthcoming Metal Gear game is yet another remake of a hit game from a highly celebrated franchise.
