GameScent: The Stink of AI

Baldur’s Gate 3 was the big winner at the 24th annual Game Developers Choice Awards.

It's a rather sad time to be a Nintendo fan nostalgic for the 3DS and Wii U era of games. In less than three weeks, the online servers for all games on the consoles will be shut down for good, making an enormous number of online modes for fan-favorite games unplayable forever.

Helldivers 2 is full of powerful weapons to smash up bots and squash bugs, ranging from satisfying firearms to explosive orbital strikes that often do more harm to you and your team than the actual enemies. Out of them all, though, one weapon stands out to game director Johan Pilestedt for having the best design.

This week, Minecraft added a brand new melee weapon for testing via Snapshot and Preview, and it's not taken long for players to discover that it's ridiculously strong. 

may be a game about saving or destroying the galaxy far, far away but its latest update asks players to take a break and hang out with their in-game romantic partner. Despite being over a decade old, Bioware's massive MMO continues to impress its community with substantial content updates and seasons filled with new events, missions, locations, and characters. While wooing NPCs may not be at the top of everyone's to-do list, the latest patch gives those smooth-talking rogues more opportunities to work their magic.

The console wars are a tale as old as time—or at least as old as the point when games consoles from multiple companies came onto the market. Whether Sega claimed to do what Nintendon't or actual customers determined to justify why their console of choice was objectively the best, this war continues to rage on to this day. However, even as far back as the 90s, it wasn't an ideology that Nintendo wanted to promote.

Cyberpunk 2077 players are on a roll lately when it comes to uncovering hard-to-spot Easter eggs, as a second cool discovery in a week has been made on the game's title screen, of all places.

It's still months before we can even hope to have GTA 6 in our hands, but there's no doubt that it's one of, if not the most anticipated game on the horizon. However, its launch doesn't just have a lot riding on it because of its eager fanbase, as one games industry analyst predicts that "there's probably never been a more important thing to ever release in the industry."

Children Of The Sun instantly shot to the top of my personal most-wanted list when it was first announced at the start of February alongside its accompanying Steam Next Fest demo, and happily, publishers Devolver Digital have now set a release date. It's coming real soon, with its single-shot murder bullet puzzles hitting Steam on April 9th - and to celebrate, there's a flashy new release trailer to go with it. Third-person puzzle shooter Children of the Sun will launch for PC via Steam on April 9, publisher Devolver Digital and developer Rene Rother announced.

Koei Tecmo and Team Ninja have a new trailer for Rise of the Ronin, showcasing the various characters and factions players will encounter on their journey. There are the Pro-Shogunate forces (Sabaku) dedicated to maintaining the current order; the Anti-Shogunate forces (Tobaku), who want to oust the foreigners; and the Western faction (Obei), led by US Navy commodore Matthew Perry, seeking trade.

If you were hoping to dive into Dragon's Dogma 2's huge open world alongside your friends at some point in the future, you might want to temper those expectations. According to director Hideaki Itsuno, the devs haven't been considering "any form of multiplayer" at all.
