Staff at three of Ubisoft's French studios are striking today over compensation.
As reported by GamesIndustry.biz, the Syndicat des Travailleurs et Travailleuses du Jeu Vidéo (STJV) union has organised strikes at the company's offices in Paris, Annecy and Montpellier. Staff from the latter two developers formed a picket line at 9am, while this will be starting at 2pm at Ubisoft's Paris studio.
This follows annual salary negotiations between Ubisoft and STJV falling apart earlier in February.
"Despite the union's efforts to find an acceptable compromise, negotiations hit a wall," the union said in its statement. "In order to hit arbitrary cost reductions targets, management offered a budget dedicated to raises that would be lower than inflation for the second year in a row."
STJV continued: "The conclusion is thus: to Ubisoft's management, our living standards going down isn't a bug, it's a feature. A company that still makes a profit, even when its execs have failed repeatedly, choosing to have its employees pay to increase its profits is plainly unacceptable."
