Fortnite OG, the return to the first-ever season of the game, was a huge success for Epic. It smashed the all-time player peak with over three million players in mere days, so it wasn't much of a surprise when it was announced to be returning this year. However, according to prominent leaker Hypex, it'll be a separate mode this time.
As spotted by Egyptian Fortnite Leaker (and corroborated by SpushFNBR), a playlist tag was added for Season OG, all but confirming that it will be a standalone mode. This could even mean that Epic intends for it to be a permanent fixture, rather than another part of the year's season, something fans have been asking for since OG launched in November.
Epic Games' head of Fortnite's ecosystem Saxs Persson said that when Fortnite OG returns this year, it won't be the same. Launching it as a separate mode certainly fits that sentiment.
There aren't any more details about what we can expect or when it will be arriving, but the return of OG is clearly being set in motion. It being in a separate tab this time is a big difference, but what else is being changed is up in the air.
It's not the only thing Epic Games has in the works for Fortnite. A new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles crossover is coming, complete with Shredder, as well as more Family Guy skins. Right now, we have a few variants of buff Peter, but we could see more of his family join him on the Battle Bus soon enough.
Not only are there new skins underway, but Lego versions of existing cosmetics, as a whole batch have been updated to fit the recently added survival mode. To name a few, you can now live the farm life as Thanos (hopefully with a little less beheading), Wolverine, and Jack Skellington.
The current season's map has also been updated, with a lot of the snow melting away as we look forward to Spring. You can find the Anvil Rocket Launcher dotted about again while, behind the scenes, the Explosive Bow and Jules' Drum Gun have been updated, so perhaps we'll see them join the loot pool as well.
There's a lot spilling out today, but to top it all off is a new quality-of-life feature. You can now update your minimum and maximum FOV in the settings.

Nintendo‘s next console will reportedly feature a custom Nvidia chip when it launches later this year.
A reliable leaker has claimed that the Nintendo Switch 2 (or Super Nintendo Switch, whatever you want to call it) will have backwards compatibility with OG Switch games, whether they're physical or digital.
It's been confirmed that WWE 2K24's Showcase mode will have 21 matches total. Showcase is one of the WWE 2K franchise's flagship game modes, and so it's no surprise that it's coming back for WWE 2K24. Sometimes Showcase has focused on specific eras in the WWE, while other times the mode has been used to highlight the careers of specific superstars.
The Walt Disney Company has announced it's acquiring a $1.5bn USD stake in Epic Games as it launches a multi-year partnership to create an «expansive and open games and entertainment universe connected to Fortnite».
A LEGO Fortnite player has created a massive Mesa village with lighting that makes it stand out regardless of the time of day. Despite how new it is, LEGO Fortnite already provides players with many things to create, but this Mesa village may be among the best bases in the game.
Edmund McMillen has discussed a potential Fortnite collaboration with Epic Games, the celebrated indie designer has said.
A new player survey released by Epic Games teases that new DLC and potential mod support may be coming soon to LEGO Fortnite. The LEGO-themed survival game was released shortly after the launch of Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 1 last December, and the rapid success of LEGO Fortnite encouraged many players to ponder what Epic Games could introduce in the current and upcoming seasons.
Fortnite will return to Apple devices in some regions "later this year", as new EU regulation combats Apple's ability to compel developers to use its app store. This follows more than three years of conflict between Apple and Epic Games, after the Fortnite developer was booted from iOS for setting up its own systems to avoid paying Apple's cut of each in-game purchase.
Epic Games has promised the return of Fortnite this year on iOS, over three years since it was pulled from the Apple App Store, but only in select regions.
Fortnite maker Epic Games says it'll be launching a native iOS version of the Epic Games Store — and bringing Fortnite back to iOS devices — following today's announcement that Apple will soon allow sideloading and alternate marketplaces on its devices to comply with new EU rules.
