A fair number of racing games are on the market to keep fans happy. With a great mix of arcade and simulation racers, the spread is impressive to suit your preference. In decades gone by, there were only a handful of top choices dominated by big-name developer houses. This has all changed again over the past 5-10 years, in which new challengers could carve out a fanbase. One such franchise has been The Crew, which impressed with its first game in 2014 and all but staked its claim as a top contender in 2017 with The Crew 2. With a much more extended waiting period between the first two games for its third instalment, The Crew Motorfest has finally landed, so here is the full review.

I’ve been slowly digging my way through the pile of games I got from Gen Con to review this year, and lucky for my kids, a good number of them were family games. They love gaming with me so I’m always looking for something new to introduce them to. After meeting with family game publisher Foxmind, we had a delicious-looking game to try out.

Techland has released the Summertime update for Dying Light 2: Stay Human, which comes with the kind of sunshine news every player loves to hear about: the game's added a premium currency. Yay! Microtransactions are not new to Dying Light, with the first game offering several bundles over the course of its long and well-supported life, but these have previously been purchasable via online stores and the trusty method of the US dollar (or whatever your local currency may be).

To say there’s been a great deal of hype leading up to this point for one of the first Microsoft/Bethesda post-merger is a bit of an understatement. There’s been a lot said about one of the first feature games of its new era, Starfield. While most of the game’s coverage has been largely positive, the talk on behind-the-scenes matters hasn’t always been.

The PSVR 2 delivers on Sony’s promise of more fleshed-out games with Firewall Ultra. This title is First Contact Entertainment’s new tactical shooter that serves as a sequel and slight reboot of their 2018 game, Firewall Zero Hour. As a huge step up from its predecessor, Firewall Ultra seems like a game that was done justice by its developers. However, looking at it from a pure VR perspective, it does not deliver the fantasy expected from a virtual reality experience.

Mechs are cool. I think it’s just one of those innate facts that we all understand. Give a person a mech suit, let them fiddle around with the kinds of legs, arms, body, and weapons it has, and you’ve got a recipe for success. Armored Core 6 not only has plenty of weapons to choose from, but also different leg types that change the things you can do. Standard legs are jack-of-all-trades, reverse jointed legs are good for jumping, there are legs for hovering, and you can swap out legs for the lower half of a tank, which lets you carry more stuff.

Today, NVIDIA shared some DLSS 3 news for GeForce RTX 40 Series owners. The Frame Generation component of DLSS will be added to Project Mugen, the newly announced gorgeous open world anime roleplaying game in development at a Chinese studio called ThunderFire on behalf of NetEase Games. Project Mugen currently has no release date, but when it launches, it'll support Frame Generation on PC.

Many attempts have been made to recapture the JRPG's glory days. In Tokyo RPG Factory, Square Enix founded a whole studio dedicated to the craft, and more recently Squeenix's "HD-2D" style has come to define both their own retro work and that of others. But it's arguably the RPGs from outside Japan that have been doing a better job of propping up the SNES nostalgia tent. Last year's Jack Move and Chained Echoes were both infinitely more refreshing to me than the slightly tired Bravely Default and Octopath Traveler sequels, for example, and now we have The Messenger studio's latest, Sea Of Stars, which is probably one of the few Japanese-inspired RPGs I've played in the last decade that's even come close to bottling the mighty Chrono Trigger and lived to tell the tale. If you're the sort to cry, 'They just don't make 'em like they used to anymore', well, you can dry your tears, because Sea Of Stars is the one that is.

Swapping swords and spells for mechs and missiles probably wasn't the first thing a FromSoftware accountant suggested following the absurd success of Elden Ring, but then the Japanese developer doesn't do things by the books. Having sold more than 20 million copies of the open world masterpiece, the studio has returned to a series it made primarily before Demon's Souls put its name on the map: Armored Core. A continuation rather than a reboot, an army of new fans is sure to make Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon the most popular entry in the mech franchise to date. What they'll need to accept, though, is this isn't the sort of FromSoftware experience they're used to — it's far from Elden Ring with robots.

There is something calming about a clichéd sci-fi horror, isn’t there? Abandoned space stations, eerie corridors, and the endless possibilities of danger make up a genre that has successfully infiltrated just about every format of entertainment. Fort Solis is just the latest, bringing with it a subdued sci-fi tale, voice acting royalty in the form of Roger Clark (Red Dead Redemption 2) and Troy Baker (The Last of Us), and a gameplay experience that is in parts enthralling and others excruciatingly tedious.
