Square Enix has announced that its 4v4 online party shooter Foamstars will release on February 6th for PS4 and PS5. A new trailer is available, showcasing the gameplay and confirming three modes – Smash the Star, Happy Bath Survival and a new addition, Rubber Duck Party. Check it out below.
Players can matchmake solo or with friends, unlock new cosmetics to change the looks of characters, and also sport emotes (including the usual poses and dances). If that wasn’t enough, Foamstars will also be available for PlayStation Plus subscribers at launch. It’s part of February’s Monthly Games line-up until March 4th, meaning subscribers from Essential, Extra and Premium tiers can claim it at no extra cost.
Interestingly, Square Enix book-ends the trailer by confirming that Foamstars is exclusive to PlayStation consoles till August 5th. It could mean potential PC and Xbox ports down the line. Stay tuned for more details in the meantime.

As part of major changes to Apple’s App Store policies to comply with EU regulations, the company has also announced that game streaming apps are now to be accepted on the App Store for the first time. This opens the door for Xbox Game Pass, GeForce Now, PlayStation Plus, Amazon Luna and other game streaming subscriptions to have dedicated apps on iPhone and iPad – they were previously only accessible via built-in web browsers.
You ever get one of those awkward phone calls from your cousin that he and his family are in town and want to drop in for an unexpected house visit? Or your buddy texts you about arguing with their roommate, and they need to come over and cool down. Or, perhaps, the most dread-inducing — your coworker’s kid-sitter canceled, and they need an emergency backup. Suddenly, you’ve got guests over, and you need to keep them entertained for a while. Fortunately for you, you’ve got a PlayStation Plus membership and extra controllers, which means one thing: it’s local multiplayer time.
Members in the Extra and Premium tiers of PlayStation Plus will lose access to 10 games in February 2024. PS Plus Extra subscribers can play a number of different games as a part of their subscription service, with Premium users getting some additional benefits on top.
The PlayStation Plus subscription service is pretty much a must-have for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 platforms. However, three tiers are available for PlayStation Plus, so if you’re on the most basic tier, you’re missing out on access to the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog. This feature is reserved for those who subscribe to PlayStation Plus Extra or Premium. With it, you’ll gain access to a wide assortment of video game titles to enjoy. However, while the game service does provide players a means to enjoy a new collection of games added into the mix monthly, there is a collection of titles that end up getting tossed out.
Based on a recent series of tweets from Larian Studios CEO Swen Vincke, it doesn't sound like Baldur's Gate 3 will be coming to any subscription service like PS Plus or Xbox Game Pass anytime soon. Vincke's discussion comes shortly after discourse surrounding a Ubisoft CEO saying fans should get used to not owning their games was shared in many online circles; in short, it seems Vincke wholeheartedly disagrees.

Hey everyone, Foamstars Producer Kosuke Okatani here. We’ve kept all of you waiting since the announcement of Foamstars May of last year, but we’re happy to announce that Foamstars will release on February 6, 2024!
Sony typically reveals its PS Plus free games, or Essential tier additions, on the last Wednesday before the first Tuesday of a month, but it's decided to reveal Foamstars as the headlining title for February 6. The rationale behind this early reveal likely has to do with the fact that Foamstars, which is being published by Square Enix, did not have a previously announced release date; in other words, it's launching day one on the PS Plus service.
PS Plus Extra and Premium subscribers can claim 14 games today, 9 of which are available via PS Plus Extra and 5 of which are available via PS Plus Premium. These games also join the superb PS Plus free games for January 2024, which include A Plague Tale: Requiem, Evil West, and Nobody Saves the World.
