PS Plus Extra and Premium Add 14 New Games Today

As part of major changes to Apple’s App Store policies to comply with EU regulations, the company has also announced that game streaming apps are now to be accepted on the App Store for the first time. This opens the door for Xbox Game Pass, GeForce Now, PlayStation Plus, Amazon Luna and other game streaming subscriptions to have dedicated apps on iPhone and iPad – they were previously only accessible via built-in web browsers.

You ever get one of those awkward phone calls from your cousin that he and his family are in town and want to drop in for an unexpected house visit? Fortunately for you, you’ve got a PlayStation Plus membership and extra controllers, which means one thing:  it’s local multiplayer time.

Members in the Extra and Premium tiers of PlayStation Plus will lose access to 10 games in February 2024. PS Plus Extra subscribers can play a number of different games as a part of their subscription service, with Premium users getting some additional benefits on top.

The PlayStation Plus subscription service is pretty much a must-have for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 platforms. However, three tiers are available for PlayStation Plus, so if you’re on the most basic tier, you’re missing out on access to the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog. This feature is reserved for those who subscribe to PlayStation Plus Extra or Premium. With it, you’ll gain access to a wide assortment of video game titles to enjoy. However, while the game service does provide players a means to enjoy a new collection of games added into the mix monthly, there is a collection of titles that end up getting tossed out. 

Based on a recent series of tweets from Larian Studios CEO Swen Vincke, it doesn't sound like Baldur's Gate 3 will be coming to any subscription service like PS Plus or Xbox Game Pass anytime soon. Vincke's discussion comes shortly after discourse surrounding a Ubisoft CEO saying fans should get used to not owning their games was shared in many online circles; in short, it seems Vincke wholeheartedly disagrees.

We’re seeing this happening all over the place nowadays, with companies failing to capitalize on what’s important within the industry, layoffs happening due to “poor sales,” or even “overinvestments,” and so on. The January 18 Xbox Game Pass update will introduce two additional games to the service: F1 23 and Turnip Boy Robs a Bank. These releases mark the second expansion of Microsoft's subscription catalog since the turn of the week, arriving just two days after Xbox Game Pass added two acclaimed horror games in the form of Those Who Remain and the Resident Evil 2 remake.

CI Games' Lords of the Fallen sales have surpassed 1.2 million units worldwide by the end of November 2023.

Sony typically reveals its PS Plus free games, or Essential tier additions, on the last Wednesday before the first Tuesday of a month, but it's decided to reveal Foamstars as the headlining title for February 6. The rationale behind this early reveal likely has to do with the fact that Foamstars, which is being published by Square Enix, did not have a previously announced release date; in other words, it's launching day one on the PS Plus service.
