Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Confirms Aerith And Red XIII Could See The Future

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth confirms early on that both Aerith and Red XIII could see the future in Final Fantasy 7 Remake, although it's a power that they have both seemingly lost.
As a retelling of the original game that also purposefully changes tons of details and has meta-commentary about what a remake is supposed to be, Final Fantasy 7 Remake left us all with a lot of questions. One thing that a lot of fans wondered about is how Aerith seems to know so much of what's going to happen, even hinting that she knows what's waiting for her at the Forgotten Capital in the original game.
Minor spoilers for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth's first chapter and one of the Gold Saucer dates below.
This is something that Square Enix briefly touched upon after the release of Final Fantasy 7 Remake, but it's also brought up and explained in Rebirth as well. In the first chapter of the game, while Aerith and Tifa rest up in Kalm, they discuss where Cloud has been over the past five years.
Tifa says that she thought Aerith would know since she's clearly informed on everything else that's happening, which causes Aerith to admit that she could previously see the future. She then says that "all that stuff was taken" from her after the fight with the Whispers, which seems to imply she's forgotten everything that she's learned up to that point.
It's not just Aerith who could see the future, though. Final Fantasy 7 Remake also showed that Red XIII had knowledge of the events that were going on and seemed aware of more than he was letting on. This is explained during his Gold Saucer date with Cloud, where he admits to him that he and Aerith could both see the future at one point and that he knows that she's in danger.
"It might sound crazy, but back in Midgar, Aerith and I could both see the future."
Again, though, it seems that Red XIII has forgotten everything that he learned during Remake and is no longer aware of the specifics of the future, likely due to the defeat of the Whispers. Red XIII notes that it seems that "arbiters of fate" can do whatever they want after the events of Remake, but that also comes with not being able to see whatever's awaiting the team.
