Fearing Nintendo takedown, Palworld modding community bans links to Pokemon mod so that "lawyers don't nuke all of us"

A Palworld player has created a mod that adds their version of the Nuzlocke Challenge. Palworld offers a lot for players to do, and the experience is expanded even further with the possibility of installing mods. Thanks to this, Palworld players have been creating a variety of mods that add different features to the open-world survival game.

Palworld developer Pocketpair is spending hundreds of thousands of dollars a month in order to keep up with server demand, and it's now simultaneously trying to hire enough people to maintain what's still one of the most viral games in the world. 

The Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences (AIAS) will induct Nintendo composer and sound director Koji Kondo into its Hall of Fame at the 27th DICE Awards.

Diablo 4 had a rough start with Season 1, an encouraging recovery with Season 2, and now seems to have taken a step back or at least lost some momentum with the launch of Season 3. Players have complained of ineffectual and annoying new content since the new season's release, but as the action RPG's community dips back into disgruntled territory, at least Blizzard has been quick to assure people that it's paying attention to the early feedback.

Diablo 4: Season of the Construct is here and, it's safe to say, off to a less-stellar start than Season 2, with players complaining of some annoying and lackluster seasonal content. The release of several new Unique items has thankfully put some pep in the action RPG's step, but there's a catch here too: the new Uniques drop from the Beast in the Ice, one of the least popular bosses in the game. 

Nexus Mods — one of the biggest modding sites on the internet — has confirmed it won't be hosting Pokémon-themed Palworld mods, saying doing so would «almost certainly… put us at risk of legal action» given Nintendo's history of litigiousness.

How the hell did Palworld happen? In a recent blog post, Takuro Mizobe, the CEO and co-founder of the studio behind the latest mega-hit, provides some clarity. The answer isn’t what any gaming veteran would call “proper game development.” But maybe that’s the secret.

After putting 2,460 hours into The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, series superfan Bobby Blue Holliday has turned to Tears of the Kingdom and now spent over 1,500 hours on a self-imposed quest to become "the first player on the planet to manually cap all materials in-game." 

Nexus Mods will not host Pokemon mods for Palworld out of a fear of legal action from Nintendo.

Popular modding siteNexus Mods, which allows users to share and download mods for thousands of games, has confirmed that it’s “not comfortable” with hosting Pokémon-themed mods for Palworld, Pocketpair’s early-access survival and crafting game.

As soon as the Internet first got its first look at juggernaut-to-be Palworld, many began accusing it of looking a lot like, well, let’s not play that game — you know what I’m talking about.

If you’ve been on the Internet the last few days, you know that Palworld, the “Pokémon with guns” style open-world survival game, has been a smashing success selling over 6 million copies and knocking down record after record on Steam, but it’s also been controversial. Some would say the game isn’t just inspired by Pokémon, it ventures into rip-off territory, something only exacerbated by things like the recently-teased Pokémon mod, leading some to wonder how much Nintendo and The Pokémon Company are willing to put up with.
