Amazon's Fallout adaptation is set to release later this month, and in preparation the cast and crew have started sharing titbits about its production and their work on the series.
Fallout Director Says It's "A Fool's Errand" To Try And Please Fans

Fallout's long-awaited TV show is a little under a month away, and we got our best look at the project so far with a trailer released earlier this month. For the most part, it looks like an incredibly faithful adaptation of a typical Fallout title, complete with a Mister Handy, Ghouls, iconic weaponry, the Brotherhood of Steel, NCR, and pretty much everything else that will make Fallout nerds point at their screens and clap.
However, don't expect Fallout to be all fan service and references, as director Jonathan Nolan has made sure to stress that the show hasn't been made for just the fans, and that trying to do it would have been "a fool's errand". Nolan explained at a recent press event, attended by T3 ,that he believes that you can't really set out to make something and please every fan, with the only person you can being yourself.
"I don't think you really can set out to please the fans of anything," says Nolan. "Or please anyone other than yourself. I think you have to come into this trying to make the show that you want to make and trusting that, as fans of the game, we would find the pieces that were essential to us... and try to do the best version."
It was probably important for Nolan and the team to make Fallout a show suitable for anyone, regardless of their history with the series, as Todd Howard recently explained that you don't actually have to understand the Fallout lore to watch and enjoy the show .
Nolan goes on to explain that he believes it's "a fool's errand" to try and make other people happy when creating something, but he has managed to make himself "very happy" with the final product. Thankfully, that should be enough for Fallout fans to have faith in the project, as Nolan also revealed that he's been a big fan of the series since Fallout 3, which he says "devoured about a year of my life".
He's also had a lot of assistance from Bethesda's very own Todd Howard, who actually recently revealed that several story elements from the show had to be cut as they were ideas being tossed around for Fallout 5. With that in mind, it seems as though Fallout will be a pretty faithful Wasteland experience indeed.
