Amazon’s Fallout TV series is yet to even premiere - it hits screens later this week, on April 11th - but it already looks set to follow The Last of Us in being the next big-budget post-apocalyptic video game adaptation with a second season in development.
Fallout TV Show Trailers Have Fans Flocking To The Games

Fallout's upcoming TV show is a little under a month away, with Amazon and Bethesda doing their best to excite players with a flurry of new info, trailers, interviews and show clips. It's hard not to be a little hyped up right now if you're a Fallout fan, and it seems like that excitement is getting people to revisit games from across the series, either out of nostalgia, or pure impatience.
First spotted by TrueAchievements, there's been a pretty significant rise in people playing Fallout 4 over the past couple of weeks, ever since the show's first proper trailer dropped. According to them, there are 33 percent more people than usual earning achievements on Xbox systems, implying not only that a lot more people have been playing recently, but a lot more newcomers to boot.
Obviously, you can only earn an achievement once, so the fact there's been a rise in achievements earned means those who haven't played the game before are checking it out for the first time. It's also not just Fallout 4 that's seen a rise in players either, as True Achievements has explained that titles such as Fallout 76 and Fallout New Vegas have both seen slightly higher than usual increases, with the former having risen 13 places on Xbox's most-played titles list.
That's pretty good news for pretty much every party involved, as it means excitement is building for the TV show, and more people are becoming interested in the games. We already know that a highly successful TV show can cause a spike in game sales, a phenomenon that was very clearly proven when HBO's The Last of Us hit TV screens, and Bethesda will undoubtedly be hoping that the same will happen when Fallout finally premieres.
In other Fallout-related news, director Jonathan Nolan has stressed that even though trailers have been pretty faithful so far, the show has been made with fans in mind. In a recent interview, Nolan explained that it would have been "a fool's errand" to try and please everyone, fans included, and asks those who enjoy the Fallout series to trust that he has included what he feels is necessary, what with him being a big fan of the games himself. In fact, he loves Fallout 3 so much that it "devoured" a year of his life, and boy, if we haven't all been there at some point.
