There are several new and returning creatures in the DLC for , all of which increase the Pokédex’s numbers in the Generation 9 games. The new DLC is the first part of the larger expansion pack called The Hidden Treasure Of Area Zero. The second DLC for is called, though it does not yet have a release date. The Gen 9 games for Nintendo Switch increased the National Dex count to over 1,000 creatures, and the new DLC is continuing the expansion by bringing new Pokémon for Trainers to catch.
Of course, other than new creatures, the first expansion for is also bringing back classic Pokémon from previous generations. Creatures like Ninetales, Mamoswine, Dusknoir, Chandelure, Vikavolt, and Kommo-o are all making their way into Gen 9 games. Some of these creatures have incredible gameplay value and will change Scarlet and Violet’s competitive meta as well. Though ’s looks better than in terms of the overall creatures added, there is a lot of merit to the new additions in the first expansion. There are over 100 returning Pokémon with, though some are only obtainable through transfers.
There are a few new Pokémon being added to ’s Pokédex with the DLC. The main mascot for the expansion is Ogerpon, the Legendary creature that has ties to Kitakami Village and its surrounding area. There are also three highlighted Pokémon named Okidogi, Munkidori, and Fezandipiti. These creatures compose a group called the Loyal Three. Additionally, there are other creatures like the previously announced Poltchageist and Dipplin, both of which are exclusive to. In addition to this, the also has numerous returning Pokémon from various regions, from Generation 1’s Kanto to Generation 8’s Galar. These creatures expand the Pokédex in with several fan favorites and other well-known Pokémon. Many of them had been officially announced prior to the release of the DLC, such as Milotic, Ninetales, and Vikavolt, but there are many more than were shown before. One of the main attractions is the return of the Sinnoh starters in, though only one random creature is obtainable per save. To obtain all three starter families, players will have to breed and trade with other players.
A few other fantastic returning Pokémon with the first Gen 9 expansion are the Legendaries and Mythicals from the Sinnoh region.
