Epic Games Store Updates List of Free Games for May 2024

Bethesda has confirmed that a new Fallout 4 update is coming on Monday, May 13. After a long wait, Bethesda finally released the big Fallout 4 next-gen update last month. The update brought native versions of Fallout 4 to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X consoles while making some sweeping changes to the game. These changes included improved graphics and performance, as well as some Creation Club content.

The newly-released survival-horror game Crow Country, available for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X, is getting great reviews from critics. Crow Country is a throwback to classic PlayStation 1 survival-horror games. Many indie titles have attempted to replicate old-school Resident Evil and Silent Hill survival-horror with mixed results, but Crow Country is certainly one of the best to take a crack at it to date.

It seems Redfall was gearing up to release a big update for May 2024 before Arkane Austin was suddenly shuttered by Xbox. Redfall got off to a very rough start when it first launched last year. PlayStation Plus subscribers have one last chance to claim the free PS Plus games for April 2024, even though it's already May 6. New PlayStation Plus free games are rotated in on a monthly basis. The previous PS Plus free games are available until the first Tuesday of the following month, and so Monday, May 6 marks the last day that subscribers can snag the free games that were available in April 2024.

Rail shooter game Rainbow Cotton, a former Dreamcast exclusive, is releasing on modern platforms come Thursday, May 9. The Dreamcast was the last console ever released by Sega. It failed to sell enough units to keep the company in the console hardware business, causing Sega to pivot to almost exclusively developing software. Even so, the Dreamcast is often pointed to as one of the most underrated consoles ever produced, as it featured a number of important innovations and featured a library of high-quality games.
