The Epic Games Store didn't break from this established pattern with the latest free game offerings, with users able to claim two new freebies right now.
For the week of April 4 to April 11, the Epic Games Store free games are The Outer Worlds: Spacer's Choice Edition and the 2014 Thief reboot. The Outer Worlds: Spacer's Choice Edition includes the base game and all the post-launch DLC, which should give EGS users significant value. However, it's worth pointing out that The Outer Worlds: Spacer's Choice Edition has been free on the Epic Games Store in the past, whereas this is the first time that Thief has been given away on the platform.
Notably, next week's free game is a rerun as well. Epic Games Store users that have been good about claiming every free game possible will already have Ghostrunner in their Epic Games Store library. This may make the current lineup of Epic Games Store free games somewhat disappointing for longtime users, but this is definitely good news for those that missed out on claiming Ghostrunner and The Outer Worlds: Spacer's Choice Edition when they were free before.
Even though they are reruns, it's still nice to see high-quality games like The Outer Worlds: Spacer's Choice Edition and Ghostrunner given away for free through the Epic Games Store. Ghostrunner reviews were mostly positive at the time of its release, and the same can be said for The Outer Worlds. Thief reviews were decidedly more mixed, but stealth game fans should still be sure to claim it while it's free.
Once Ghostrunner is made free through the Epic Games Store on April 11, users will be clued in on the April 18 — April 25 free game. The Epic Games Store free games are virtually impossible to predict, though users do know of three games that will be free through the launcher at some point this year. It's been confirmed that the classic Fallout games, specifically Fallout, Fallout 2, and Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel, will be given away through the Epic Games Store in 2024, though a specific date still hasn't been announced at the time of this writing.
