Another Thursday means another rotation on the Epic Games Store. As of this writing, fans can no longer claim sci-fi RPG The Outer Worlds or stealth game Thief, but they can grab up cyberpunk action performer Ghostrunner. Between the three is a lot of variety in gameplay styles but also a lot of quality, as each is an excellent game with positive reviews (or a cult following in the case of Thief). Once Ghostrunner rotates out on April 18, fans will be able to claim The Big Con.
Epic Games Store users are likely familiar with how this works, as it's one advantage that EGS has over «free game» competitors like PS Plus and Xbox Game Pass (alongside there being no asterisk next to «free»). Every Thursday at 10 am CT, Epic Games Store rotates out its previous selection and releases a new game for free. That's Ghostrunner this week; however, it also reveals what game(s) will follow the next Thursday.
For this week, players are able to claim Ghostrunner — an action platformer game where players take on the role of Jack the titular Ghostrunner. After a cataclysmic event, all of humanity is restricted within Dharma Tower, the cyberpunk setting of Ghostrunner. Players must navigate its halls as they seek to free the Architect. Players will be able to perform various platforming actions from jumping and dashing to wall-running and grappling, requiring players to have both speed and keen awareness in the process. Both enemies and the player can be killed in one hit, meaning there's a constant sense of danger. There are mechanics to make managing this easier, such as Sensory Boost which slows down time for players to better manipulate their surroundings.
Not only were its reviews positive, but they were positive enough to spawn a sequel in Ghostrunner 2. It received similar reviews at launch, so anyone who enjoys the cyberpunk story and gameplay of Ghostrunner on EGS would be wise to check out the sequel too.
Matching its predecessors in terms of variety and quality, The Big Con is an indie adventure game with solid reviews online. Players take on the role of Ali as she embarks on a «crooked» road trip to save her family video store from loan sharks. It lets swindle, pickpocket, and con with a '90s backdrop. Players have a certain degree of freedom when it comes to conning people and learning what works for each mark, with players able to wear disguises, sneak around, focus on purely pickpocketing, mix and match, break and enter, and much, much more, all under the direction of an expert grifter. It's a little different from the other games given away on Epic Games Store here lately, but it's as worth checking out as any of the aforementioned games.

Gamers have noticed that the implementation of profile avatars in the Epic Games Store was once listed as a priority despite the feature still not being a reality. Epic Games is a hugely popular company that is recognized as an industry leader in several areas. Epic has developed Unreal Engine, Fortnite, and continues to deliver many of its services through its own PC marketplace, but sometimes the Epic Games Store lacks features users enjoy on other platforms.
It's another Thursday on the Epic Games Store, which means it's another day of reveals and rotations for its free game selection. Unfortunately, this means anyone who missed out on Epic Games Store's addition of The Big Con (April 18-April 25) can no longer claim it. Instead, they'll be able to claim Industria and LISA: Definitive Edition over the next week, and come May 2, they'll rotate out for the newly announced EGS free game: Orcs Must Die 3.
As the calendar continues its ceaseless onward march, Epic has announced its next batch of weekly Epic Games Store freebies, which this time look very much like Cold War shooter Industria and post-apocalyptic RPG bundle Lisa: Definitive Edition.
