Embers Adrift is closing out the year with a brand new update that adds Shrieking Barrows, a new higher-level Ember Vein. Stormhaven Studios also added a new quest, several balance changes, and improvements.
Shrieking Barrows is the heart of the new content in this patch, and the patch trailer highlights it. The Embers Adrift team has continued to build out their game, and more recently, to add some more higher-level content as players continue progressing. The Ember fuels things likethe Alchemy system that was recently added, and the site of one of these can show raw power of the Ember within if there are weak points.
Designed for characters in their mid 30s, you can find Shrieking Barrows within Grimstone Canyon. Take it on solo, as a duo, or even with a full party, as the content has been made to work with all group sizes.
The team also added is a new quest, “Making a Name for Yourself”.
Much of the update adjusts improves a number of features and systems, along with some balance tweaks. The team has fixes for a number of visual issues, and updated some textures, while also tending to some issues that affected gameplay. For instance, NPCs in Grimstone Canyon got some help with their previously-bugged navigation and the team fixed some early quest text to add better descriptions on how to find the necessary NPC.
Ember costs for Alchemy I and II have been halved. The team is also trying a change to help with Defender threat generation in a way that doesn’t over rely on enrage effects.
Stormhaven also looks to what’s coming in January, with a planned backend upgrade from Unity 2021 to 2022 nearly complete. But it’s what else they are teasing that’s most intriguing: “Past the engine upgrade we will be testing some radical changes to certain elements of the game throughout January on QA”. They promise more info in January.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, which was disliked by both fans and critics alike, also made it to higher echelons, thanks to a dedicated fanbase wanting to experience its multiplayer segment.
