More than 20 years after the original game changed the way many of us see video games, Square Enix revived Final Fantasy 7 via the first part of its remake. Now the game is bigger than ever before as the second installment in the remake trilogy, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, has taken the world by storm. Leaving Midgar and traversing the fictional world beyond, Draculabyte has celebrated Rebirth's success by curating a range of t-shirts that mash-up the game's characters with iconic metal bands.
Sephiroth may well be the most metal character in all of video games, so it makes sense that the Rebirth villain makes multiple appearances in Final Fantasy 7's Draculabyte collection. In what might be my favorite design in the range, Draculabyte has taken the image of Cloud bearing down on Sephiroth with his Buster Sword high above his head, Final Fantasy written above them in blue but in the same font as Black Sabbath use for the band's logo. It and all of the other t-shirts in the collection cost $19.99 each.
The Black Sabbath font is used frequently in the collection, also featured on a t-shirt above Cloud astride his motorcycle, as well as Vivi Ornitier from Final Fantasy 9. Other band fonts used for the collection include Judas Priest and Ghost whose logo perfectly translates to Cloud. Almost so much that anyone glancing at it might assume it still says Ghost until noticing there's one guy with a big sword standing underneath it rather than a quirkily dressed band.
Def Leppard's logo has been used for a Red XIII design, and of course, Vincent Valentine's t-shirt makes him look like an animated member of the Welsh metalcore band, Bullet for my Valentine. If your fandom extends to Kingdom Hearts, and if you like Final Fantasy 7 then it probably does, Draculabytes also has a t-shirt with Sora, Goofy, and Donald Duck in place of Metallica, Sora's keyblade in place of a guitar.
Final Fantasy 7 fans continue to be flooded with merch options should they want to continue their Rebirth journey, or supplement it if you're still not done with that journey like me. Cloud's Static Art figure is back in stock, and his and Tifa's Bring Arts figures have also been re-released with the added bonus of Square ditching their NFTs. There's also a Materia hunting board game releasing this summer set in Remake's Midgar which you can pre-order now.

By splitting up Final Fantasy 7’s story across a trilogy of full-fledged games with its ongoing remake trilogy, Square Enix has been able to flesh out its world and characters much more than it would have been able to do with a more conventional remake. Where the latter are concerned, that has also included entirely new characters who weren’t part of the story in the original game itself, coming in the form of secondary members of the cast who still end up having fairly important roles to play.

Final Fantasy XVI: The Rising Tide story expansion is out now, which introduces the new region Mysidia. At the center of this region is the town of Haven, but when you first arrive there, it’s kind of useless. There’s no shop, no blacksmith’s foundry. Thankfully, by completing certain sidequests, you can unlock the blacksmith and shop in Haven, and you’ll want to do that, as they offer some of the best gear and craftable weapons in the game. Here’s how to do so…
Last week, Square Enix unveiled the official PC benchmark and accompanying trailer for the upcoming Final Fantasy XIV expansion, Dawntrail. The trailer gave fans glimpses of new in-game areas, enemies, and combat upgrades. While that all went over rather well, the game's decade-old character creation engine is drawing ire this time and the eyes of character models, in particular.
covers a big story with a wide cast of characters, but there are two in particular who could benefit from receiving an DLC treatment. introduced the idea of filling in story gaps with a DLC through the Yuffie-focused, which debuted the new version of the classic character and sent her on a mission to infiltrate Shinra. Although it's not 100% necessary to play through the side chapter before , it adds important context for her character and teases some threads that follows.
Final Fantasy XVI: The Rising Tide story expansion is out now, and unlike the game’s first DLC, Echoes of the Fallen, this one adds the all-new region of Mysidia to explore. That’s great, but as you’re exploring you may notice something – you can’t ride your trusty Chocobo steed Ambrosia! Is it just not an option in this DLC? Don't worry, you can ride your Chocobo, but you have to complete some tasks before you’re able to do so. Here’s what you have to do…
Final Fantasy XVI is no small game, but for those who want more, Square Enix has also rolled out a pair of story expansions for the RPG – last year’s Echoes of the Fallen, and the just-released The Rising Tide. But how does one play this new DLC? It isn’t a simple matter of just hopping into the new content from the main menu, there are some pre-requisites. Also, how leveled up should your party be before you take on this new challenge? Don’t worry, we have the answers for you…
Sony has updated the Last Chance to Play section of its PlayStation Plus service, revealing several PS5 and PS4 titles leaving the subscription service, including many titles. This is not unheard of with subscriptions such as Xbox Game Pass or PlayStation Plus, but this clear-out does seem to be larger than most, with 25 titles being removed.
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, the second part of the remake trilogy of the original game from 1997, was released in February.
