Some fans are wondering “” which has caused a bit of a panic. With the character seemingly being replaced on an official Marvel Studios book, rumors are spreading that Olsen will no longer be playing Wanda. Here’s the need-to-know info about Elizabeth Olsen and her role as the Scarlet Witch.
While the actress has confirmed that she’s taking a break from the role of Wanda after two years filming and one year promoting Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, she hasn’t explicitly stated that she has quit Marvel. In fact, she recently stated that she wants to explore the X-Men in the MCU.
Rumors about Olsen quitting Marvel stem from how her character, Wanda, was replaced on the cover of the upcoming “The Marvel Cinematic Universe: An Official Timeline” book. Wanda was swapped out for Loki and Sylvie. However, this likely has more to do with Loki being a fan-favorite character whom Marvel/Disney thinks will help increase sales.
It’s very likely that Olsen will return as either a main character or a cameo. With the Marvel Cinematic Universe exploring the multiverse, anything can happen. Seeing Olsen onscreen again, as either a new variant or a version that managed to survive the events of Multiverse of Madness, wouldn’t be a total surprise.
With neither Olsen nor Disney explicitly confirming that they have parted ways with one another, it remains likely that Olsen will be Wanda in any potential upcoming movies featuring the Scarlet Witch.
