Diablo 4 Ray Tracing Update Arrives March 26

Blizzard has added new skill tags for many class skills in order to interact with the new itemization. They also added existing skill tags to multiple skills to open up new possibilities by adding the Core tag to various skills such as Ball Lightning and Bone Spirit. These changes should allow for a greater variety of skill interactions, both with each other and with the new gear and affixes that have been introduced.

April 12 is going to be a big day for players of Diablo 3, as the critically acclaimed hack and slash is set to receive a new update on that day. Blizzard Entertainment's third mainline entry in its beloved series of action RPGs was released over a decade ago, but the title still continues to receive new content and tweaks even after the launch of its successor, Diablo 4, last year.

New Diablo IV comparison videos were shared online, highlighting the differences ray tracing brings to the latest entry in the series.

Diablo 4 has released update 1.3.5, the highlight of which is the addition of support for Nvidia's ray tracing technology. Although Diablo 4 welcomes ray tracing months after its release, another Nvidia technology has been available since Diablo 4's launch. Specifically, players had already been able to enjoy the DLSS 3 features in Diablo 4, a technology designed to improve aspects such as frame rate during gameplay and resolution on low-end GPUs.

Today is the day that Diablo IV gets its ray tracing update, which was developed in collaboration with NVIDIA. Blizzard has released a detailed explanation of each improved effect, starting with shadows.

Blizzard has stated that PTR Patch Notes for Diablo 4 will likely be revealed this Thursday, March 28 — but these patch notes will not include the full list of Season 4 changes. On March 26, wanderers can conqueror the horrors of Hell with a suite of new graphical enhancements available to them with patch 1.3.5. Arriving alongside our next content update, Sanctuary will be further imbued with the luscious shadows and enhanced reflections of ray tracing, plus other visual enhancements.
