Chess grandmaster denies using anal beads to cheat against world champion: 'categorically no, of course not'

Last year the chess world was engulfed by scandal after world champion Magnus Carlsen accused his opponent, grandmaster Hans Niemann, of cheating in a game which Niemann won. The allegation was explosive and, as allegations about Niemann's past behaviour came to light, one unverifiable and lurid detail took centre stage: that the player had cheated through the use of vibrating anal beads that, somehow, communicated on-the-board moves to him.

BackerKit bans AI-generated content from its platform, including art for board games

BackerKit will not allow AI-generated content on its platform, which includes many high-profile board game and tabletop role-playing game projects. The announcement, made formal in a blog post on Monday, stands in stark contrast to its biggest rival, crowdfunding giant Kickstarter, which has no such restrictions. The announcement comes less than one month after AI-generated art in a Terraforming Mars board game expansion raised alarms among creators and backers alike. BackerKit’s policy goes into effect on Oct. 4.

Unity Apologises, Partially Walks Back Contentious Monetization Scheme | Push Square

After doing a terrible job of communicating a controversial new pricing scheme (which culminated in an allegedly self-inflicted bomb threat), Unity Technologies has again apologised for the "confusion and angst" caused and walked back some of its terms. Looking at responses from developers in the community, it doesn't seem like nearly enough.

Payday 3: What’s Changed From Payday 2?

Payday 3 is here, and that means everyone gets to jump in and have a fun time robbing banks and doing cool stuff. That is assuming the game is working and you aren’t stuck in limbo for hours on end waiting for the matchmaking to work as you slowly go insane listening to the same music on repeat for all eternity, of course.

Unity walking back parts of its controversial runtime fee

In an open letter to its community, Unity has revealed its reworked free structure and controversial runtime fee changes. Under the new structure, the Unity Personal edition will remain free and incur no runtime fee. The new cap before the fee starts has been increased from $100,000 to $200,000, and no game with under $1 million in trailing 12-month revenue will be subject to the fee. Interestingly, the new Runtime Fee will only apply to the next version of Unity that is shipping in 2024. Already shipped and current in-development projects will not be subject to the fee unless they upgrade to the 2024 version of Unity. In the post, Marc Whitten, leader of the Unity Create team apologized for what has transpired in recent weeks.
