It had gotten fairly hard to keep track of Destiny 2‘s many ups and downs in the year of Lightfall. From catastrophic layoffs to Bungie’s emergency-button rollout of long-anticipated new features, there’s whiplash trying to parse it all for the average player.
Amidst the “soul-crushing” backend production atmosphere, Bungie’s talented team of developers has managed to eke out a few more wins for the Destiny 2 community regardless — one would think that warrants major change to protect employees at the studio. As per the latest This Week in Destiny blog post, players have got much to look forward to in the coming weeks and months, highlights including substantial PvP updates (including the new Trials Card) and a refresh of the Prophecy Dungeon.
Speaking in extremely broad terms, Bungie announced the following changes for Destiny 2‘s update 7.3.5, which is coming out on March 5:
Later on, in May, Destiny 2 will receive the Eventide Labs (Europa), Cirrus Plaza (Neomuna), and Dissonance (Terraformed Pyramid Ship) PvP levels, adding a much-needed breath of fresh air to the game’s roster of maps. Sometime along the way, Bungie will also add Artifice Armor drops to competitive crucible PvP,
One extremely interesting future addition to Destiny 2‘s PvP is the Hardware game mode, which only received a short mention in this TWID: “It’s no abilities, only weapons! Grab Special and Heavy ammo from crates located around the map and get to shooting,” says the blog post. This should make for a significant change of pace in PvP; it’ll be fascinating to see how it pans out.
Note the full list of Destiny 2 PvP updates is far too long to include all of them here. If you’d like to peruse what other tweaks Bungie has planned, check out This Week in Destiny.
Even though one could argue that the Season of the Wish hasn’t been the send-off that players expected, Bungie clearly isn’t twiddling its thumbs on the seasonal side of things. A substantial assortment of new weapons and gear is coming before The Final Shape releases in early June, for one. Updates 7.3.5 and 7.3.6 will drop over the coming months, and they’re bound to keep things fresh in the interim.
Now, if The Final Shape succeeds where its immediate predecessor failed, Bungie may yet reinvigorate the Destiny 2 community for times to come. A lot is riding on the DLC’s success, after all, since Marathon is barely on the horizon right now.

Bungie releases update 7.3.5.1 for Destiny 2, which fixes a number of issues related to the Crucible, the new Skimmer vehicle, as well as the Aurora Sacrifice armor ornament. Unfortunately for players, yesterday wasn't the smoothest during the weekly Destiny 2 reset. While the reset is set to refresh the rewards, challenges, and weekly activities, yesterday's deployment hit more than a few snags, resulting in extended downtime and maintenance on the servers which were taken offline, preventing players from logging in for a bit longer than usual.
