A creative Destiny 2 player has expressed their appreciation for the latest Dune film with a set of custom armor inspired by House Harkonnen soldiers seen in one of the film's most iconic scenes. Theirs is part of a new wave of custom Destiny 2 costumes replicating the looks of Harkonnen soldiers and characters like the Baron, Rabban, and Feyd-Rautha.
A classic sci-fi story that's seen multiple screen and game adaptations, Dune is seeing a renewed surge of popularity thanks to the blockbuster films by Blade Runner 2049 director Denis Villeneuve. The second part of the series, Dune: Part 2, arrived in theaters in March 2024 and saw its protagonist Paul Atreides rise to power over the universe by harnessing the culture and beliefs of the Fremen, the hardy natives of Dune who viewed Paul as the savior of prophecy. By the end of the film, Paul toppled the oppressive rule of his mortal enemies in House Harkonnen, who were backed by no less than the Emperor of the known universe.
Though they had comparatively little screen time in the 2020 Dune film, the Harkonnens prominently feature in some of Dune 2's most striking scenes and visuals. Harkonnen costumes, architecture, and even the skin tones of the most important Harkonnen characters are filmed in high-contrast monochrome, with deep blacks and colorless whites contrasting heavily throughout the movie. One fan, Reddit user Spider-K1n, seized on an unnamed Harkonnen character from the arena sequence on Giedi Prime, assembling a highly evocative customized Destiny 2 Titan gear set for fellow players to enjoy.
While numerous Dune-inspired costumes in Destiny 2 emulate the look of Harkonnen desert troopers or Fremen stillsuits, Spider-K1n's Titan costume drew immediate attention for its unusual source of inspiration: The Harkonnen Arena Guard, a faceless warrior placed in the arena on Giedi Prime during Feyd-Rautha's birthday celebration. The Arena Guards manage the fighters during the celebration, keeping them corralled within Feyd-Rautha's deadly reach. They wear all-black outfits and wide sharp-pointed headdresses. The headdress forms the centerpiece of Spider-K1n's Arena Guard-themed costume, which cleverly employs the premium Celestial Helm armor piece to achieve the same outline and silhouette in conjunction with the popular Superblack shader from the recent Into the Light update.
The other parts of the outfit were used to contribute to the costume's emulation of the Harkonnen Arena Guard's form-fitting outline. The cloth and leather material of the Destiny 2: Lightfall Cogent Beat chest piece and class item helped keep the look almost entirely matte black, while the low-rarity Midnight Oil legs and Streetware Arms helped keep the Titan's outline on the

Sci-fi and fantasy epics on television have come a long way in the last several years, but you could be forgiven for finding it hard to believe that Max’s upcoming Dune prequel series could live up to the majesty of Denis Villeneuve’s massive movies. However, the Dune: Prophecy trailer, which came out on Wednesday morning, is here to prove you wrong.
In case you've been living under a rock, a movie based on the The Legend of Zelda franchise is coming to theatres. Details are sparse at the moment, so we have no clue what game, if any, it'll cover.
A sequel or even a remastered version or PC release seems even more possible with a new set of merchandise based on Sony’s hit soulslike game. FromSoftware’s dark adventure title is one of the studio’s most beloved projects, even nearly 10 years since its initial release back in 2015. The title explores the depths of horror in an adventure that pushes players beyond the limitations imposed by fear. Over the past years, there have been many rumors about a and even more requests for a PC remaster, but nothing has been officially teased so far.
Helldivers 2 developer Arrowhead has released the Polar Patriots Premium Warbond as planned after the boss of the studio polled fans on whether it should go ahead so soon after what he called “negative sentiment” over the game’s PlayStation Network account linking.
Fans of Helldivers 2 have started a petition asking developers Arrowhead to reinstate a fired employee in charge of community management. The employee, "Spitz", was let go following the fiasco in which Sony told PC players they would need to link their Steam and PlayStation Network accounts to continue playing the shooter. Sony and Arrowhead changed their mind about that after player backlash in the form of 100,000+ negative reviews on Steam. The kicker? Community manager "Spitz" was low-key encouraging players to continue the review bombing. This doesn't seem to have gone down well internally.
Sony have launched Expansion Open Access, which gives lapsed Destiny 2 players access to The Witch Queen, Beyond Light, and Shadowkeep for the next month or so, until June 3rd. This delightful gift / cheap marketing ploy to get people interested in the game again is available across all formats and gives you access to a huge amount of content, so much that you are unlikely to finish it within the given time period.
With the PSN account linking fiasco now in the rearview mirror, what was nearly a disaster moment for Helldivers 2 is now becoming a part of community lore. Fans have been busy working on cape designs since Sony reversed course, at least some of which have seemingly caught the eye of the development team.
A joking post about a recently released Call of Duty skin has Destiny 2 fans calling on Bungie to release some custom cosmetics in a similar vein. The new skin found in Call of Duty just so happens to look perfectly suited to be an armor set based on the Destiny 2 Stasis subclass.
Destiny 2 players with an eye for fashion are creating new customized Guardian costumes themed after the game's Taken faction. Key to the costumes is the Superblack color shader, one of the main prizes from the free Destiny 2 Into the Light update, which Bungie released to keep players engaged with the game as they wait for The Final Shape expansion to launch.
Helldivers 2 fans are buzzing about a new revelation: a keen-eyed player has spotted a subtle issue with the icon for one of the game's popular Stratagems, causing a stir within the community. Helldivers 2, developed by Arrowhead Game Studios, is a cooperative third-person shooter set in a dystopian future where players battle against alien forces on various planets. The game features a wide array of Stratagems, powerful abilities that players can deploy to aid them in combat, including the Orbital Precision Strike, which has gotten a lot of attention for its effectiveness in eliminating foes.
Helldivers 2 has been one of 2024's most beloved titles ever since launch, proving that live service titles can be extremely popular if they're properly supported and fans are properly respected. Unfortunately, Arrowhead is now throwing a lot of that goodwill into the trash, as players recently found out that they'll need to sign up to a PlayStation Network and link it to Steam if they want to continue playing the game past June 4.
