Death Stranding: Director's Cut Arrives on iPhone 15 Pro Next Week

There were plenty of hints along the way, and even some leaks by the leading man himself, but it was only made official at the Game Awards 2022 that Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is on its way. Coming from the same influential and creative mind as the original, as well as the Metal Gear franchise before it, Hideo Kojima introduced the game himself. Of course, nothing about Kojima’s games are straight forward, and what was revealed about Death Stranding 2 probably raised more questions than it answered. We’re strapping on our boots, connecting to our BBs, and are ready to make the trek to find out everything there is about Death Stranding 2.

Death Stranding 2: On the Beach’s most recent trailer made it abundantly clear that the game, unlike its predecessor, isn’t going to be set in the United State of America (or the United Cities of America, as it’s known in Death Stranding’s fiction), but exactly how far away from that setting is the sequel going to take players? Mexico was mentioned a few times in the game’s trailer, so does that mean Sam and co. will still be somewhere in North America?

Hideo Kojima has spoken about the upcoming Death Stranding movie, admitting that it will be "quite difficult" to adapt his most recent work.

Death Stranding 2: On the Beach’s State of Play trailer was a packed one, and several days on from when it premiered, we’re still diving deep into its nitty-gritties and discovering all the details it’s hiding. And though crafting trailers that are deliberately mysterious and raising a constant stream of questions is very much Hideo Kojima’s MO for marketing his games, during a recent episode of his YouTube show HideoTube (the first in over seven years), he shared some significant new details on the game himself, while providing commentary for the aforementioned trailer.

PlayStation hosted the year's first State of Play games showcase early Thursday, bringing a host of new announcements, reveals and updates on upcoming releases. Sony presented a deep dive into two of its first-party titles, with extended gameplay trailers for Rise of the Ronin and Stellar Blade. The latter also finally received a release date — Shift Up's action-adventure title is arriving April 26. Team Ninja's Rise of the Ronin received a detailed gameplay trailer, showing off sword combat, special weapons, and traversal. We also got to know a bit more about the Edo period setting of the game, which takes right in the middle of the Japanese revolution.

Death Stranding Director's Cut is now out on the App Store on iPhone, iPad and Mac computers. The surreal package delivery game from Kojima Productions can be played on the A17 Pro-powered iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, and iPad models and macOS devices running on the M1 chip or later. Death Stranding, which first launched as a PlayStation exclusive in 2019 and later ported to PC, was first announced for Apple platforms at the company's WWDC event in June last year.

Mobile game controller maker Backbone is releasing a limited-edition version of its Backbone One controller themed around Kojima Productions’ Death Stranding. If you pick one up, you’ll get a free code for the iOS version of Death Stranding: Director’s Cut, will launch alongside the controller next week.
