Bohemia Interactive has announced DayZ Frostline, the survival game’s second-ever expansion (of course, modders have expanded the game in a number of ways, but this is only the second official expansion). As the title implies, DayZ Frostline will introduce a new wintery map, which will require players to manage warmth in order to survive. You can check out a quick trailer for DayZ Frostline, below.
A nice chilly update, just in time for, uh… summer? Need to know more about DayZ Frostline? Here’s the official rundown from Bohemia Interactive...
“The centerpiece of the Frostline expansion is the 83km² Sakhal terrain, inviting you to explore its rugged and desolate reaches. Unlike previous locations, you'll play as a survivor seeking refuge in the rumored safe haven of Sakhal, only to face an unforgiving environment frozen both in time and climate. Despite its brutality, Sakhal promises beauty at every perilous turn, with frozen lakes, snowy forests, and frosty peaks.
The proximity to volcanic regions amplifies the hazards, doubling the threats you'll face. Although the terrain may be more compact compared to previous ones, each new challenge in the expansion will deliberately decelerate your progress, compelling you to recalibrate your playstyles. To survive, you'll need to adapt like the new region-specific wildlife species acclimated to the cold, equipping winter-themed cosmetics to brave the elements and uncover Sakhal's intriguing structures and points of interest. Preparation is key to survival, and as the frost sets in, only those with ice in their veins and fire in their hearts will endure.”
Key Features of Frostline expansion:
In addition to announcing DayZ Frostline, Bohemia has announced that their previous expansion, Livonia, will be bundled with the base DayZ game for “free” starting with the release of update 1.25. Said update is currently available on test servers and should launch sometime later this month. Of course, some who paid for the Livonia update are upset that it’s being offered for free – Bohemia has yet to announce any sort of “make good” for those who purchased Livonia (the DLC is nearly 5 years old at this

Is Call of Duty coming to Xbox Game Pass? When Microsoft first began pursuing it’s $69 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard, many assumed using Call of Duty to bolster Game Pass was one of their goals, but things have changed since then. Game Pass growth has slowed, badly missing growth targets, and Xbox boss Phil Spencer has admitted there’s a ceiling to its success. While some Activision Blizzard games like Diablo IV have been added to Game Pass, recent reports suggested that Microsoft was still “evaluating” whether to do the same with the headliner that is Call of Duty.
Although PlayStation Plus is known for its library of games that are available for free to subscribers, the selection also includes a good helping of interesting DLC. In terms of rotating monthly titles, the most common inclusions tend to be expansions, but the expanded options available to Extra and Premium members feature a greater amount of variety. One that's getting added this month is especially exciting, as it's a pretty crucial add-on to the popular social simulation game
Ubisoft has ended development of The Division Heartland, the free-to-play game set in the universe of Tom Clancy’s The Division, the company announced Wednesday. The game was announced in 2021. The publisher said it will divert resources elsewhere, specifically to XDefiant and the Rainbow Six franchise.
WWE 2K24 has been on the market for a couple of months now and developer Visual Concepts is expanding the experience with the game’s first DLC pack. CM Punk made his surprise return to WWE this past November at Survivor Series, and in years past, fans would likely have had to wait over a year to see him in a WWE game, as the deadline for setting the roster for the next game would have passed. Thankfully, that’s no longer the case, as Visual Concepts got to work and managed to get him into the ECW Punk Pack, which also includes Bubba Ray and D-Von Dudley, Sandman, and Terry Funk.
The Sims 4 is nothing if not a teetering jenga tower of updates and add-ons and DLC packs, and the latter half of 2024 will be no exception for EA's life sim king. Yesterday saw the release of an update to the base game's swimwear, kicking off the updates teased in the recently-revealed new roadmap, Season Of Love. The roadmap video's vibe is that it and its partner saw you from across the bar and wondered if you'd be interested in joining them, and it kind of weirds me out.
Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut arrives on PC this week, and port developer Nixxes has laid out a few additional details about the launch. As we’ve reported, Ghost of Tsushima is the latest Sony-published title to generate controversy for requiring a PlayStation Network sign-in on PC. Granted, GoT only requires PSN on PC for the Legends multiplayer mode, you can play the single-player campaign without it, but the game has still been delisted from Steam in a long list of countries without access to PSN.
Dead by Daylight is turning eight years old, and Montreal-based series creators Behaviour Interactive had certainly a lot to announce during their big anniversary broadcast. Plenty of new detail was provided about the new Dungeons & Dragons update, although we also learned that a Castlevania chapter is on the way later this year. Players can also look forward to the introduction of a mode with two killers instead of the usual one.
The Doom franchise had a bit of renaissance with 2016’s Doom and 2020’s Doom Eternal, and with it now being over four years since the last entry in the series, fans are starting to get a bit antsy to shred some demon butt again. Well, a newly discovered trademark may hint something is on the way.
For a while in the late 2010/early 2020s, it seemed liked gaming subscriptions may be the future of the hobby. Microsoft certainly wanted us to think it was the future, pushing Xbox Game Pass every chance they got, and Sony eventually joined the party with their own expanded PlayStation Plus service.
The wait may have been longer than some expected, but the free PlayStation Plus games for May 2024 are finally available for subscribers to claim. As always, the monthly free PlayStation Plus games are available to all subscribers, regardless of tier.
FromSoftware has touted Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree as its largest ever expansion, and though that obviously means it’s going to be packed full of plenty of new content – like over 10 new bosses and a new map larger than the base game’s Limgrave area – what should we expect where its endings are concerned? According to director Hidetaka Miyazaki, though there will be multiple endings, you shouldn’t expect quite as many as the base game had.
