Cyberpunk 2077's Phantom Liberty expansion has sold 4.3m copies

Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty is filled with plenty of memorable sequences, but if there's a boss fight that doesn't fail to impress is the Chimera boss fight, which is unlike anything found in both the base game and the expansion. What makes this epic boss fight even better is the amazing sound production, which was handled by Sound Lab in collaboration with CD Projekt Red internal team.

Cyberpunk 2077 gives you quite a lot of freedom when making your character, giving you one of three backstories to pick which radically alters events in the game. These backstories do much more than simply change the game's opening though, and the recently released Phantom Liberty expansion even alters new details about V based on whether you picked the Corpo, Street Kid, or Nomad lifepaths.

Sci-fi RPG Cyberpunk 2077 is an ambitious game with history as up-and-down as its prickly protagonist's mood. The game deflated expectations almost immediately after launch in 2020, disappointing would-be fans with its glitches and fiddly combat. Putting a bow on its comeback arc, developer CD Projekt Red recently released its Phantom Liberty expansion and update 2.0. Now, the game feels deserving of its pre-launch hype, and its unexpected new patch 2.1 happily continues this trend.  

Cyberpunk 2077 will receive its "last big update" tomorrow, December 5, 2023, as developer CD Projekt Red turns its attention towards the sequel, codenamed Orion, and the next mainline Witcher game, codenamed Polaris.

That's according to a recent CD Projekt Red earnings call as well as the company's Twitter account, which was out yesterday boasting about 4.3 million copies of the DLC sold since launch. 

Since launching in late September, the first and only DLC for Cyberpunk 2077 has sold 4.3 million copies in just two months, according to CD Projekt Red's latest earnings report.

CD Projekt keeps adding staff to the next Witcher game.

With work on Cyberpunk 2077 winding down post-Phantom Liberty and more resources now being shifted to The Witcher 4, CD Projekt Red hopes to expand its development operations to a scale "not precedented in the history of our company."
