Dredge is easily one of my favourite games of 2023—and considering how many bangers have released this year, that's a pretty big deal. Its sinister blend of fishing and Eldritch horror had me hooked, and next month I'll be able to experience even more thanks to its Pale Reach DLC.
It'll be taking things to cooler waters, with a new icy landscape to sail and explore. The Pale Reach introduces a new side story, where «you'll retrace the steps of the last crew that came before you and unearth a story of bitter betrayal.» I really enjoyed the mystery of Dredge's base game, so I'll definitely be diving into what its DLC offers.
Outside of a new story, The Pale Reach also has new equipment, including a boat add-on to rip and tear your way through floating ice blocks that obstruct your path, as well as 11 new fish and crab species to angle. You'll even be able to put all of that ice to good use, with purchasable ice blocks that'll keep your catches fresh for longer, helping to retain their value before you find a merchant.
All the spooks are still there too, with a short trailer showing some dangers old and new lurking in the waters and tucked underneath the snowy plains.
The Pale Reach is releasing on November 16th, and you can wishlist it over on Steam now. There's no price yet, but with the base game lingering around the $25 mark, you shouldn't expect to pay too much.

OK, so there's plenty in Worldless that won't remind you of Silksong or its predecessor, Hollow Knight. Rather than a medieval bug exploring a labyrinth of bioluminescent rot and lore, you're a vaguely humanoid cloud of shards and points, roaming an abstract landscape of soft curves and shafts of light. You're Rayman but fancy, basically, and the world is no world but an uncreated expanse of elemental forces, though you'll find you can run and jump on it much as you can the ledges of Hallownest. The combat is a different beast, too. Rather than Souls-inflected 2D hack-and-slash, it's turn-based battling with a twist - each turn gives you a countdown in which to perform real-time combos, mixing melee and magical attacks.

It's been almost a year since I finished Astlibra Revision, the unquestionably weirdest and arguably best JRPG of 2022, but it's still stuck in my head not so much like a catchy song, but rather more like a pickaxe. The hard-to-pronounce RPG is now headed to Nintendo Switch on November 16, which means a whole new audience can and absolutely should experience the narrative and combat system that positively fried my brain over the course of 58 unforgettable hours.

Sony is all set to refresh its PlayStation 5 lineup for the holiday season, with the long-rumoured slimmer redesign of the PS5 confirmed to release next month. Sony unveiled the new PS5 models late Tuesday, showcasing design changes that have helped the console become smaller and lighter. While the PS5 slim's processing power and graphical capabilities remain the same as the original PS5, the mid-gen console refresh, which has a slightly smaller form factor than its infamously bulky predecessor, does get slightly bigger internal storage, up from an 825GB custom SSD to 1TB. The PS5 slim also brings the option to add an external UHD Blu-ray disc drive to its digital edition console. Notably, the disc edition of the redesigned PS5 slim maintains its pricing at $499.99 (roughly Rs. 41,615), but the digital edition gets a $50 price bump and will cost $449.99 (roughly Rs. 37,452), up from $399.
