It sounds like Dragon's Dogma 2 and Rise of the Ronin — both released on Friday of last week — have struggled to make an immediate impact in the UK. While we don't have the full sales charts just yet, GamesIndustry.biz's ever-knowledgeable Christopher Dring has outlined the relative success of the new releases, and it's fair to say that neither game has done well. At least, not at retail.

There's been a lot of chatter about this Stellar Blade demo recently. First, it was released accidentally, and although Sony took it back down pretty quickly, it wasn't fast enough to stop a few people playing and sharing footage online. So, we knew a demo was coming, and it wasn't much later that we got official confirmation. Now, the time has come: it's available to download and play right now on PS5. SEGA has sold off primarily PC-based strategy game developer Relic Entertainment, and is in the process of cutting up to 240 jobs across its various UK studios. Relic, which makes the Company of War games, will become an independent studio moving forwards, and said in a short statement that it remains on good terms with its former parent company.

Earlier this week, we brought you word of a dangerous paranoia sweeping the ranks of Helldivers 2 players who, perhaps not getting enough sleep, have convinced themselves that operatives of an alien faction known as The Illuminate already walk among us. The surprisingly well-received TV adaptation of Twisted Metal has only been (officially) watchable in the USA for about eight months. That's changing from today, though, as the action comedy is now available to stream in the UK.

It appears the movie industry is coming for every gaming IP it can get its hands on at the moment because it has been confirmed EA's life simulator series The Sims will be turned into a film. Margot Robbie's production firm is attached, and the film will be produced and co-written by Kate Herron of Loki fame. EA serves in a «creative and producing capacity».

Revolutionary RPG Baldur's Gate 3 was a monstrous surpise last year, seemingly coming out of nowhere to contend with the industry's heavy hitters. If you're anything like us, you might still be playing, testing the boundaries of this intricate game. For those super fans who don't need any more convincing, developer Larian Studios has revealed that the game's gorgeous PS5 Deluxe Edition will begin shipping in late April, provided there are no last-minute hiccups.

While we’re enormous fans of Train Sim World 4 and Dovetail’s entire railway simulation series, we’ve often criticised its overemphasis on British, American, and German routes. Fortunately, it looks like the release is poised to receive its first Japanese add-on, in the form of the Tadami Line, in-development at external studio Union Workshop.

We now officially know Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail developer HoYoverse’s upcoming urban gacha Zenless Zone Zero is coming to PS5, but the title’s third – and, presumably, final – closed beta test will not be available on Sony’s system. Announced earlier today, sign-ups for the sampler are available for PC and mobile through here.

Sony may have revised its PS5 sales estimate for the current financial year, which will end on 31st March. But unsurprisingly it still wants to sell as many systems as possible, which means it’s going to make one last push for that all-important 21 million units target it’s been eyeing. Out later this week in Japan, publisher Red Art Games has announced that it’s bringing MACROSS Shooting Insight to PS5 and PS4 in North America and Europe later this year, marking the first time a tie-in based on the 80s anime franchise has officially launched in the West. The game, a multi-dimensional shooter, has been developed by Kaminari Games, who’s perhaps best known for the brilliant Raiden V: Director’s Cut.

New release WWE 2K24 was the best-selling physical game in the UK last week, knocking Final Fantasy VII Rebirth into second. The PS5 JRPG registered an 89 per cent drop in sales compared to its launch week while 2K's newest wrestling entry has debuted better than last year's instalment, with purchases up 26 per cent.
