Blade to Get a New Video Game, Courtesy of Arkane Lyon - Hardcore Gamer

Garfield is making a return to the silver screen next year with The Garfield Movie, with Chris Pratt voicing the lasagne-loving feline himself. However, that movie won't be the end of Garfield's exploits in the future, as it was revealed that a video game spinoff is currently in development, which will more than likely release before or alongside the movie's launch.

The New Zealand games industry generated NZD $434.4 million ($270.9 million) in the financial year ended March 2023, according to a survey by the New Zealand Game Developers Association.

Arkane Lyon looks to be building Marvel’s Blade on the same game engine as Deathloop’s.

I really should know better than to lose my gourd over a game before it even has a gameplay trailer, but the first peeks we've gotten of Arkane's Blade adaptation already have me excited. In addition to the brief teaser at The Game Awards, Arkane Lyon art director Sebastien Mitton recently shared three pieces of concept art for the upcoming action game.

Arkane Lyon's studio director Sebastien Mitton has shared three concept artworks for the Deathloop developer's adaptation of Marvel's Blade, a third-person action adventure set in Paris, which was announced last week during the Keighleys. On the surface the artworks give away little, but thankfully, I am a Vampire of News, equipped with supernatural vision and insight. Don't worry about the red stains on the carpet, that's just, er, strawberry jam from all the doughnuts I've been eating recently. The red stains on the wall? Yeah, that's blood.

It was highly rumored that we would see something from the folks over at Arkane Lyon during The Game Awards last week. This speculation was split between a new installment to their beloved  Dishonored  franchise and a potentially new game based around  Marvel’s Blade . When the event took place, it was unveiled that  Marvel’s Blade  was actually in the works. Now Microsoft would have their own stab at a potential exclusive like how Sony was able to bring out  Marvel’s Spider-Man  and  Marvel’s Wolverine  to their PlayStation fanbase.

The Game Awards is meant to be an event that can herald in the next wave of big titles across all platforms, and each year is often a mixed bag of whether they do that or not. But this year, one title did get everyone excited. Rumors had spread that a partnership between Marvel Games and one of Bethesda’s studios was going to work on a title together, and that came true when Arkane Lyon took the stage and announced that Marvel’s Blade was in the works by them. A stylish trailer showcased the “Daywalker” getting ready to slay some vampires, and gamers couldn’t wait to do it.

One of the major surprises at The Game Awards recently was Arkane Lyon’s next big title. While many of us expected Dishonored 3 or Deathloop 2, it revealed Marvel’s Blade. The single-player action-adventure title is set in Paris and will be in third-person, a major shift for the studio.

As the viral horror franchise continues to grow, Damien Leone teases plans for a video game and haunted house experience. The slasher movies center on the menacing Art the Clown as he enjoys a bloody streak of murders in a fictional New York town, as well as survivors Victoria Heyes and Sienna Shaw as they grapple with the trauma of encountering the killer. Though the first movie garnered mixed reviews, its 2022 sequel was a critical and commercial hit, opening the door for 2024's and potentially further installments.

Marvel's Blade was one of the surprise announcements at the Game Awards 2023, and ho boy did it go down well. In development at Arkane Lyon, of Dishonored and Deathloop fame, it's set to be an original story based on the Blade comics featuring the now iconic coat and glasses of course. 

The Game Awards 2023 wrapped earlier today, marking an epic conclusion to this year's video game season and celebrating the best games released in the past year. The lengthy ceremony was once again hosted by Geoff Keighley, live from Los Angeles, with Baldur's Gate 3 taking home the coveted Game of the Year award. As usual, there were a few exciting new announcements, and while some expectations were crushed, there's still a bunch to look forward to. Standout reveals this year include a collaboration between Hideo Kojima and filmmaker Jordan Peele, a free DLC for God of War Ragnarök, yet another Skull and Bones release date, and more surprises.
