It seems that adventurers are not done exploring The Land of the Morning Light, as Black Desert announced a new region for the area, as well as a new class and more during this weekend's Calpheon Ball.
Over the weekend in Korea, Pearl Abyss hosted its annual Calpheon Ball event, which saw adventurers gather to learn what is coming for the long-running MMO. Last year's Ball, which took place in Los Angeles, saw the reveal of the Twin Classes Woosa and Maegu, as well as the first details of what would become the MMO's next expansion, The Land of the Morning Light.
This year, Pearl Abyss announced that our adventures in the Joseon-era-inspired location aren't over, as a new region of the island was revealed: Seoul. According to the translation of the stream by Black Desert Foundry, the new region is «inspired by the main royal palace of the Joseon Dynasty,» and it seems that Pearl Abyss is taking the same zeal it had building the first region with Seoul.
As with The Land of the Morning Light proper, Seoul's inclusion will be based on Korean history and folklore, with even the new region's landscape and villages being built with historical references in mind. New weapons are also being introduced with the new region: Fallen God Tier weapons, which will be higher in tier than the current top tier weapon, PEN Blackstar.
The Calpheon Ball also detailed quite a few quality-of-life changes coming to Black Desert, from streamlining Magnus travel to reduce the number of loading screens to simplifying items to help reduce inventory clutter. A new inventory management tab is coming, as well as an all-in-one inventory preset to make organizing a bit easier and straightforward.
One of the major highlights of Black Desert's Calpheon Ball was the announcement of a new class, the Scholar. The Scholar wields two hammers as her primary weapon, chucking them around the battlefield and slamming them down with force on the heads of her enemies. The combat preview trailer showcases the Scholar in action, with many of the skills doing stellar AOE damage. According to the translation on Black Desert Foundry, the new class will follow a similar path as the Archer for its succession and awakening, where she will merge the two hammers into one giant sledgehammer to pound enemies into dust.
The Scholar is coming out soon, with the global release on December 20th, though console fans will have to wait a smidge longer.
Another class was revealed, though no real info was given yet. We do know it's a male class that wields a Do (a military sword in Korea) and will have «magic-based abilities.» This class will be released with the upcoming content in The Land of the Morning Light, so we should learn more as that draws near next year.

There are a lot of ways to judge a great performance. In 2023, as in every year, some of the year’s best movies were quirky, colorful, boundary-pushing challenges to the cinematic status quo, and some were low-key, emotionally intense stories, either tracking the lives of famous historical figures or just trying to evoke the pains of real life. Our list of the best performances of the year honors both extremes: outsized performances that tickled and surprised us, and realistic ones that made us forget we were watching a performance. Here are our favorites among the many great performances we saw in movies in 2023.

The lengthy ceremony was once again hosted by Geoff Keighley, live from Los Angeles, with Baldur's Gate 3 taking home the coveted Game of the Year award.
